grandpa's car

SO ANY UPDATES? Did you get the car?

RUMBLON

My aunt decided she wanted it. So I lost out. She learned to drive in the car and used it through high school so, at least she will take car of it.

I offered grandpa 5k for it so that is what she gave him. I would have been fine if he had given to her, but she thought that would be fair.

I would make sure that your Aunt knows that if its ever sold you have first choice.

May she cherish the car as you do.

I'm sure many of us saw that sweet ride and thought "needs a big block and,and...";you get the idea. However...cars THAT nice and preserved are few and far between. Stress to the aunt that there should be no driving in shitty(tell her "inclement";she might bop your noggin if you say "shitty") weather, and continue to express your desire for the car. Better that you end up with it rather than someone who would cut it up. There's plenty of other candidates for that out there.

Thats too bad- sorry you didnt get it-I hope she takes care if it and remembers you like it if she ever decides to get rid of it....Id just hate the feeling of someone leaving that poor car out to rust...

heres hoping shes a good driver-gah

Here we are 14 years later and my Aunt has decided to gift me the car. I am going to go retrieve it in a couple of weeks.
It’s been garaged the whole time and shouldn’t need much to make it road worthy again. I will be trailering it home and going through everything thoroughly before it’s first show.
Attached photos is one in the same colors inside and out.

That's great that you finally got the car - patience and persistence paid off. As a bonus, looks like you got it for nothing AND no family squabbles!

I suggest you start a build thread once you get the car in your possession - lots of great people here to help with getting the car back on the road.

Thanks, it’s really a childhood dream come true. 50 years of pining after the same car.
I have been building cars my whole adult life. Now with all that experience and some time (I just retired), I can do it justice.
I’ll start a thread as soon as I get her home.

Bucket seats makes it a Polara 500. Same as pictures.

Congrats. Look forward to seeing pictures of the car.

When my wife died I inherited her 3 Subarus. A '90 Legacy 2 WD auto that was her father's, a '93 Legacy 2 WD 5 speed and an '01 Forester. I gave my grand niece the '90 and she gave it back when she was done. I figured I'd give it to my oldest grandson but no he got the family's Honda. Then I figured I'd give it to my youngest grandson but no he wanted to learn to drive on the stick so he got the '93. I always said that my son would get the Max when I'm gone if I still had it but maybe not. I am thinking I might sell it and use the money for something else! My son on the other hand wants to build a '69 Hemi Charger so we'll see what happens!

That's one of my favorite mopars.. enjoy! :)
