Hey guys, some great discussion here. Just so you know, the first episode was pretty dry - and we knew that it would when we made it. There was a huge change. I'm sure if you had employees, and then hired someone new, it would feel awkward at first. That's perfectly natural and it's okay that some people felt that way. That's why we made the decision to essentially make the first episode a "Mark" episode - because everyone knows who Mark is and hopefully by now, you are familiar with him.
What's interesting is how cut and dry some people are. "Show was dry so I've taken it off my DVR. You've lost this viewer!". Well, that's a bit extreme; especially when many people preface their statements with that they've watched the show since the beginning. Or the people who say "Who wants to see Allysa holding a baby the entire episode." To clarify, she was holding her newborn daughter for less than a minute in the last 45 seconds of the episode. It makes me laugh thinking about how that same bizarre mentality applies to these people's day-to-day lives. For now, we'll just chalk that up to the mysteries of making television.
Anyways, this new season is pretty kick-***. Will and Mark have some hilarious moments AND they put together some of my favorite cars yet. We even have an entire episode where Tony from Tony Mopar Parts and Mark nerd out over a white Hemi Charger and a Charger Daytona. Will isn't a new employee as he's worked for Mark four different times and was around before Daren or Josh were on. Dave, our newest technician, he's just like all of you. Just a normal guy who works on his various Mopars. He applied for the job on Facebook, was hired, uprooted his family and moved from Montana to Oregon just to be a technician. He turned out to be so great explaining some of the intricate details of the restorations, he became a cast member. Allysa is on the show because Mark has felt distant from his daughter and for the first time, she wants to learn. (I'm not sure if anyone here is a father, I'm sure some of you can relate to that). And for those who can't stand Mark, stop looking at it as if he's being an asshole because he's mean spirited. He's just trying to be his own version of David Brent/Michael Scott, which is to come across as an butthead to make you laugh - so if you take him seriously that's on you.
Everyday I come into work, he says "how you doing you son-of-a-b!tch" and I respond with "Better than you, ***-crack ears." We laugh and we go about our day. It's that kind of friendship that makes it worth going to work everyday.
Hope some of you give us a few episodes before you decide to tune us out. And just so you know, I'm not Mark.
