Graveyard Carz Fall 2015

I have been here for awhile, with many more posts than indicated, but changed my account as I was being cyber stalked on this and other forums. Thanks for the welcome.

OK - Bill O'Rielly is on board with this one and sent Geraldo Rivera to interview Edward Snowden to determine if the NSA pinheads had any involvement in this mater!!! Definitely something for the "No Spin Zone"!

The Quality OE restoration Experts are laughing at the Quality that is being touted as the Best in the Universe

the best would not use or pimp AMD metal :jerk:

game,set,match! :icon_mrgreen:

Yes, there are Hacks here, and there are high quality workman and their work actually shows. I am not naming any names in either category. But I've been here long enough to be able to make this call.

Whether the show appeals to anyone is one thing. But, I'm curious of the agenda by a few, to discredit & outwardly demean the quality of workmanship. Is this by personal inspection of the result ? I just wonder how many opinions are based on experience.

I know from personal experience, some AND parts left alot to be desired. But, others were even worse. What would you recommend using ?

When the mans favorite Quote on the show is only a Hand full of people on the planet can do what he does and he has ZERO OE GOLD credits , then I think he is bringing this scrutiny on himself .

go back and watch the first season , All Mark did was put down using Aftermarket parts , they were the devil . Untill he got in bed with all the manufactures of them.
And yes as I stated , I was his number one champion when this all started and have watched every episode several times . Untill he stabbed many of my friends in the back .

oem used or nos is by far the best,
i know its unaffordable, but the best doesn't come cheap!

Speaking of just that, what does "HemiGuy" think of his car ? Perhaps he is the one here to pass judgement ?

Well, I'll jump on the bash Mark Worman cart. I watched the season opener. What a Stinker! All he did was talk through the whole show. I wanted to turn it off, but I kept expecting it to improve. His daughter is the only interesting thing on the show. What a pile of crap! All cars shows should study Wheeler Dealers. Just the right mix of humor, tech, and maybe a little bs.

I'd like to see it succeed, but IMO some changes could be made, at-leas considered...

Some was constructive criticism too, it's not really taken as so, much in my opinion...

Wouldn't the show like to know what people want & think ?
Or don't the cast & crew, Mark or Discovery, give a rats *** ??

One persons likes, is another's dislikes, just like politics, not all will agree all the time...

Not Just make "constant defensive remarks"...

Take my comments how you will...
It's solely my criticisms, not personal attacks...

I think it could be better, much better even, we need a great show about Mopars,
I do actually honestly hope it will get better too...
It is the only Mopar specific show, it should represent the Mopar community,
not make them look bad, narcissistic, petty, weird either...
IMO I think we are perceived that way enough...
I've said it before & I'll continue to tell my opinions, that's what these forums &
these types of threads are all about...
But I'm not a producer, script writer {Yes I said it}
or a camera operator let alone an editor either, I'm not in the business,
I don't claim to be a Know-it-all...
I'm sure they see it all too, some they won't ever share with any of us too...
Allot ends up on the cutting floor too...
There's 2 sides always to every story/situations, shows, employee's, cast, crew etc.

I do like seeing some inside dirt/knowledge too...
Make it more palatable, more viewer friendly...
I still DVR it, to watch latter, sometimes fast forward thru stuff,
Mainly because my elderly ol'Pops, has a tizzy fit when it's on, leaves the room,
he absolutely hates it, he can't stand Mark or his antics...
I'm sure there are a demographic that love the narcissism, the product placements,
scripted drama BS & probably some of the Markism's/grabassing too...
When IMO, a little of that goes really a long, long way...

I do like seeing some of the background of the employee's too,
but not a whole show on it thou, maybe a special show...

I found his daughter to be quite pleasant too...

I do understand some of the content, as to appease the non-car/Mopar crowd too...

Some would like a more even keeled show, more about the cars, little entertainment/joking isn't a bad thing, far less of the grabassing BS, bad jokes, a little goes along way, especially the closeup face contortions or constant product placements & product endorsements, are a little over the top too...
I know why too, I'm sure it's more complicated than we all think it is too, he/Mark & GYC's/Welby's has become sort of celebrity now, it is bound to go to your head sooner or later...

I know damn well, I'm not perfect, but I don't claim to be in all my comments/stich either...
"Only a handful of people in the world", could suggest changes/criticize/type it like this...LOL
{Pun intended, but all in jest}
I know it's all about the $$$ now, the cars are second fiddle & thank god they're Mopars, or IMHO we all wouldn't probably all be talking, texting, writing, arguing about it otherwise, it's would just be a Welby's restoration shop/bodyshop, insurance jobs or personal projects, otherwise...

I hope this will be taken in the context it's meant to be, criticism,
wanting to see a better show, that will last for years to come...

I do love Mopars, 1st & foremost...

For Now I'll Still DVR it....

I'd hit it.

I’m gonna dive in here and offer my 10 cents.

You may say my opinion is slanted because of my relationship with Mark and the show.
Let me put it to you like this, I wouldn’t have a relationship with Mark and the show if they weren’t good guys, it just wouldn’t be worth it to me. Mark is a standup guy, he has honored his commitments to me and has been appreciative and welcome to any help I may be able to offer, and has become a good friend.

What I can tell you is that Mark was and is a true Mopar guy and that success hasn’t gone to his head. If anything it makes him work harder at trying to improve the show and do the best he can on his restorations. He puts in 10+ hour days 6 or 7 days a week since I’ve known him.

If you look at the work that he did in the earlier seasons compared to the more recent, you can see that the correctness of his work has increased, because he cares to be better. Remember one important thing, he can only install the parts that his customer has agreed for him to install. He’s not gonna put a $900 green oil filter on unless his customer is ready to spend the $$ for it, same for all of the other parts that go into a resto. Of course his restorations haven’t won OE gold awards and it’s primarily because the customers aren’t ready to supply the parts needed for such a job, and the customers want to drive their cars. If you restore a car to OE level all you wind up with is a show piece that holds up a car cover really well (don’t ask me how I know, lol). The moment you drive the car is when a lot of the undercarriage detail and “newness” of many components don’t appear as new any longer. So while a lot of the work mark does is OE quality, some of it isn’t for the purpose of longevity and drivability.

Mark spends a lot of time trying to fine tune the show. He’s always trying to get the perfect balance between fun and being informative. But I can tell you one thing, and that is the episodes that are informative got great results and feedback. I’m sure we all realize that you’re not going to please everyone, so Mark is constantly trying to achieve that balance that keeps both ends of the spectrum engaged.

I’m the world’s biggest cynic that doesn’t believe most of what I read or see, and I felt the same way about GYC, until I was there. I can honestly tell you that the show is not scripted, of course there is a plan of what’s going to be covered, but I can promise you it isn’t scripted. Mark is a guy that jokes and kids around a lot, so like it or not, it’s his personality. Of course he knows time and place when to cut loose or not, but it is a pretty light atmosphere there.

As far as the product placement, yes it is part of having sponsors, but I can tell you first hand that it is exposing sponsors to many who didn’t know where to go to for certain parts and I’d guess shop equipment too. I’ve received many calls for new customers who were looking for a part, weren’t able to find it and hadn’t heard of me prior to seeing me or my products on GYC. So while it is advertising, it is also helping the Mopar owner find where to source some of their needed items.

Remember the TV network is the boss to a point. You don’t have to answer this, but what TV network would want one of their shows star saying “we do pretty good work, it may not be the best on the planet but it’s plenty good”?

Like has already been said, THIS IS THE ONLY ALL MOPAR SHOW ON TV!! Are we better with it or without it? I say much better! We always felt like second class citizens compared to chevies and mustangs. The exposure our Mopars get can be nothing but positive for the hobby. So while GYC may not be the perfect show in every way, appreciate and support it, and be ready for the rest of this season which will only get better as the season continues.

RC, Yes, she is a pretty girl.:icon_sunny:
She MUST take after her mother, for sure. And, a thanks to Tony for his insight,it is much appreciated ! As a former small business owner, both auto & non-auto related, I find the " camaraderie" that goes on amusing... after all, it's not a documentary.

TONY "D"...Thanks for your input. It gives a very good point of view not only as a Friend to Mark but to the Hobby as well. You have been an integral part of it too I will also add. Many a part has been located thanks to your extensive research and knowledge base. As I stated in my post earlier on this topic, if I were not getting long in the tooth and retired now, I would beat feet to Mark's door in search of joining up and becoming a part of the great adventure. Sadly though that is just a dream but this Ol' MOPAR fanatic still can wrench on my stuff and dream the dream while watching it come to fruition on GYC. Thanks a Million...cr8crshr/Tuck

Well i guess that explains why the show is nothing more than "just a show" because if he was invested in the aspect of being a great guy....THAT information would be disclosed. However it would not be great marketing. IT IS a "for PROFIT" attitude. We get it , you get to hang out with a cool set up and everybody likes to be connected to cool events. Hell I was a body guard for Terry Bradshaw, Donnie Beechler and Gary Loveman of Harrah's Indy Race Team when they were in town at TMS. I'm not important and frankly they dont remember WHO THA HELL I AM.... With that said ...it is fun to tout our connections.
