I don't have a problem with the sponsors or product placement. I remember when we couldn't get reproduction parts for our cars, and I'm thankful for the vendors who are producing and selling these parts now. The way I see it is if product placement helps them, it helps all of us. When my '70 GTX took a hit in the quarter panel around 1982, I couldn't find a replacement outside of cutting one off a junk car. Try finding a good used '70 B body quarter in Wisconsin. Forget it. Now AMD is finally selling repro quarters for our '62-'65 cars. This is a fantastic time we live in with our beloved cars, and we have these vendors to thank for it.
As for Mark, I enjoy his sense of humor, and to me he doesn't seem to take himself too seriously. I think he's mostly goofing on himself and exaggerating to a ridiculous level. I find that funny because I have a similar sense of humor and get how pushing it too far is funny in itself. The risk of that is some people don't get it and get turned off by it. I'm glad we finally have an all Mopar show - warts and all. We just have to remember that the show is entertainment first and foremost. A dry, informative show might be good for us Mopar gearheads, but we're a minority. Ratings are king, and there has to be a hook to keep people tuned in - gearheads or not. I think Mark understands that and that's what drives the show's format.
