GTX 440 break in

So I finally had time to get this thing running. Here is a short video of the break in. I dodn't have a tach hooked up but I'd guess around 2500rpm and the open headers were maddening. Tomorrow I'll try setting the timing and idle. Right now the idle seems high and won't come down but I'm not sure where the other engine parameters are at and the timing is a good place to start.

Good to see everything went well for you A. I always get a little nervous at initial fire-up and cam run-in times. Open headers eh? The neighbours must love you! lol...

Wow, that was a really short video, like 4 seconds, pretty good sounding engine from what little I heard... Don't you just love all the smoke when they are 1st fired up..LOL...

Nothing like the smell of a new engine starting up! I think we should market a new line of ladies perfume that smells like new engine start up or even race gas :laughing1:

Way cool! Congrats on a successful break-in. Still have a cam/lifter break-in to do on mine(yes,I'm a procrastinator...),so maybe I need to do the video thang or the amusement of the troops here...

Sounds good. I had smoke too but it was from oil leaking when the temporary oil line melted under the engine when I was checking for leaks underneath.( All fixed )

I plan to get some mufflers on this thing in the next 2-3 weeks and then try synching the carbs. My travel schedule has been brutal lately so I'm falling behind.
