Have you ever noticed that when you have something for sale on the web and don't have pictures, the first thing that people want to say is, "WE NEED PICTURES". I have been selling Mopar cars and parts since the sixties and I have come to notice that the people who call you on the phone is more interested in the buying of your car and or parts and no pictures needed. They come with a trailer and a wad of cash 99% of the time, a deal is made. Of the people that have gotten pictures from me , 99% did not make a purchase. Are the buyers going into a scrapbook phase of their life and need pictures of the cars they "almost bought " ?

Going back to the 60's, you advertised and sold locally. Someone sees an ad in the classifieds, gives you a call and then comes over to see the stuff in person. Now, with the advent of the internet, you attract people from all over the place. They dont get the luxury of driving across town to see the stuff. Even with pictures you are buying sight unseen for the most part. Ive seen on this very website where people buy things and then come on here and bash the seller for misrepresentation, even when pictures were given.
You get a lot more tire kickers too. Its just gonna happen.

I would want a pic to see it so I know if I am even interseted in going to look at it. Actually I have found in most things for sale when there is no pics it is not in very good shape and thats why the seller dont post pics. And if they dont list a price it is a very high price and they dont list the price because they know most wont even look at it at the high price. This is just what I have observed over my years dont mean it towards you as per say. Ron

I used to buy lots of parts sight unseen from ads in hemmings (before Al Gore invented the internet), that's when people where honest though.

You also get the "don't you know what, (fill in the blank), looks like"! Well, yes I do, but I don't know what yours looks like!
Pics help, no doubt about it!

It has become the new standard. People are adapting to new habits. Craigslist and the computer have many people selling stuff where posting pictures is fairly easy.

Selling parts is the same as selling used cars. My estimate is 2 out of 5 who are interested in buying parts assume its like walmart. Plenty of stock and just sitting on the shelf with a price tag. Most of us have our parts in remote spots in places our wife or friends could not find with a good description. Providing pictures always helps, but for me if I want the item, I'm there with cash in hand. Good luck finding good parts in your neighborhood.

I agree with Hemi Rebel. The Internet has opened up the whole planet to sell your parts to. Back in the day most people were local and just came over, pictures weren't digital, there was no internet, etc, etc,. Now that we have that access the demand for a "right now" view of the product becomes essential. Now days I won't even drive very far unless I've seen pics of what ever it is I'm considering.

TImes have changed - we need to realize that and change with them or.....

i can only assume that you are referring to me......
methinks we will just paste the whole convo then....

no offense but thats way out there.

i would never drive a state away with no pics, and i have cash.
just imagine if i drove to ohio to pick up your car and the pieces i need are missing,
do you think no pictures still matters?
nuff said there....

I'd certainly want to see some photos 1st,
long before I head out or spend $$$ over the -www-
IMO that's just common sense, it would dictate that,
people want to see what they are asking or talking about 1st...

I'm a horrible photographer too, I make that point perfectly clear,
because my photos aren't most of the times...

Allot of adds I look at; if they don't have photos, then I'll look elsewhere 1st,
it's selling/advertising 101;
IMO is that most if not almost all the people,
will want to see photos of what they are attempting to purchase,
it's a small inconvenience & it's a decent reference to compare products...
It's not the only way either, but most commonly accepted way IMO...

I'd think someone & especially someone that's in a successful ran business,
would get that small point/fact/contention/line of thinking...

Catalogs or Internet sales, wouldn't try to sell all there parts,
without at-least some photos, might not be all, but a good selection anyway...

My $0.02 cents, but that's just me...

what say you met a gal on the internet. and you wanted to see a pic of her, and she said " i'm really hot". would you believe her and drive 500 miles to go see her?

No I am actually not referring to you. N.Y. is too far to travel for trim pieces. I had local people that were too lazy to come look at the car and parts. They lived 15 minutes away. The 62 in which you are referring to was only missing one piece of trim near the grill. My next car to sell will be a black 84 Grand Fury cop car that has never been registered to the public , and has been in storage for over 20 years. It will go on ebay

if you want all the money for the item
don't be lazy,earn that money!
post up some pics!

This post had "old guy" written all over it :toothy9:

Today we have the internet, and the internet needs pictures. Cheap parts are one thing maybe, but when somebody posts an entire CAR for sale and puts ZERO pictures.. my first thought is "are you f*cking kidding me?!" It's definitely a face-palm when someone wants $20,000 to $200,000 out of your wallet and gives you zero pictures; it's like they're setting themselves up for failure... or they're just really lazy scammers.

Isn't it easier to post pics the first time instead of having to send them pics every time they ask? As to the percentage of buyers.. I won't even investigate anything further (car or part) if there's a problem with seeing/getting pics. First thought is "why is this a problem? what are you hiding?" Asked for (more) pictures of the charger I have, so that makes me your 1% who asks for pictures and subsequently buys.
