who would everyone recommend for collector car insurance and what have your experiences been in terms of claims.

I had them insure both my 63 Belvedere and 62 Nova together up until this august when I sold both those cars.
They are one of the most expensive insurance out there.

Why do you say that about Collectors?
I just insured my 63 Dodge with them and they are half what Hagerty quoted me.

I got the best price from Grundy Worldwide. I haven't had to file a claim with them so I can't comment on their service.

I've been with hagerty for years. I've never had a claim, but some friends have had them. They were great every time!

I just put new insurance on mine this year. Got quotes from Hagerty and Grundy and went with Classic Automobile - a division of Infinity Insurance Company out of CT. Price was "a lot less" than either of the other two and when I compared coverage and all they were all pretty much the same. Of course the big question is how they are to deal with if I ever needed them...

Because my car was "modified", Hagerty wanted $790 for "agreed value" full coverage. My insurance agent of 30 years lined me up with Condon & Skelly (check their website) for $360 "agreed value" of $55,000. You'll need a certified appraisal submitted with pictures, but they have an outstanding reputation for claim service. Their information # = 800-257-9496. Merry Christmas everyone! Bob

I was very UNHAPPY with Collector car insurances customer service and it took over a week or 2 to get insurance with them. With Hagerty call and email a few pictures and your id card is faxed or emailed to you.
I went to the DMV and Hagerty faxed my updated id cards directly on the spot.
Plus Hagerty was a few hundred cheaper on the policy.dollar for dollar value on my cars.

All I can say is it didn't take two weeks for me to get coverage with American Collectors. I've also needed a copy of my card before and they would have faxed it, if I had a fax. So instead they emailed it to me.

When I was buying one of my cars, I needed car insurance fast. I was using American collector for years and just realized that why should I wait to get my car registered.
So i looked into a different insurance carrier and found Hagerty to be cheaper,friendlier and must more customer service oriented.
I switched all my cars over to Hagerty and never looked back.

Here's another vote for Hagerty. They have always been fantastic to deal with. Had a windshield claim on my '64 and they covered it cheerfully, quickly, efficiently, and with zero hassle.
