hands free driving

I’ve seen the new chevy commercial where you can tow hands free now! Towing, is there away to know the pickup isn’t towing something to heavy or improperly loaded? Dont these jack asses realize they’re just making it easier for people to do stuff there not supposed to be doing while driving? I just can’t believe it’s allowed. If I was a officer of the law I would pull over every jack wagon that looked remotely distracted while driving. I speeding Im ok with to an extent, but cellphones and makeup, eating, clapping your hands like some light in the loafers, well you know. Like stated above if you don’t want to drive fly, take a buss, taxi, have someone else drive F*%k!

My son told me a good one. A friend told him that if you veer towards a Tesla, its computer will slam the brakes on. He said he tried it with a Tesla that was travelling beside him, and it works.

Eventually this is going to lead to AI needing to have value judgements programmed in. Example: Driver X is driving 55 MPH (speed limit) on a small country road. Suddenly, driver X comes around a blind curve and comes up on an accident. Driver X can't stop in time and will plow into either a young girl standing in the middle of the lane of an old couple standing by the side of the road. But driver X will make some split decision based on his/her reflexes and whatever happens, happens.
Is the little girl worth more or less than the old couple? For the AI system to take evasive maneuvers, it needs to have value judgements programmed in for a "lose/lose" situation like this.
I'm not sure I want machines making decisions like this.

There was an article awhile back where the Tesla self drive was determined to be LESS likely to "see" pedestrian people of color compared to Caucasians.

I don't think any of it is going to happen the way people imagine it. One word, Litigation. Who gets the blame when eventually something goes wrong? After all, IT is a good career for a reason. Once a vehicle owner is held responsible for an accident that happened in full autonomous mode, nobody will ever trust it again.

Great point.

 But what happens if someone is tailgating the Tesla?

I bet the owner/"driver" won't see the obvious issue, they will just think their miracle on wheels saved them from a crazy driver.
