Has anyone seen this while installing a big block in place of a small block?

I’m installing my engine and I’m having problems with bolt alignment. New 440 Source mounts and brackets. I had the same problem last summer when I tried installing it with factory original brackets and the junk mounts from Summit, I believe they were Anchor brand but had the same issue with the nub not engaging in the brackets.

What year are you working on? What does the other side look like?

Lift it and put it down on this side first and see if the other one lines up. It doesn't always go in the first try.

This is my’69 Coronet, I have had both sides in one at a time but can’t get them both together. I had a friend weld a skid plate on the K frame and he added some beads where it looked like it could use some. I just ground some off around the front side of the driver’s side, waiting for some paint to dry and I’ll try again.

The studs are too long on these new/replacement mounts.
Remove from engine, cut the excess stud from mount face towards the engine block, the plates will rest higher up in toward the block and allow it to settle down in mounts on K frame. Had this issue last summer dummying my sons motor into his Coronet.
You might have to take some off the alignment pin on K frame side of mount, I can't recall if we had to or not.

Wow that's way off.
Try loosening the bracket bolts on both sides and then setting the engine in, not all the way home, but just enough to see if you can get the through-bolts aligned on both sides. The brackets have some wiggle room and can be tightened up afterwards. If they're still off, it's likely the brackets or the biscuits are wrong or just plain crappy...check to see if the issue is the same as "70bigblockdodge" described above.
The bottom edge of the brackets should be able to rest close to, but not touch, the block when it's all said and done.

Are the mount to the engine block bolts loose on both sides ? I have no experience with your set up, but on a small block, there's almost 1/2" in those bolts.

I can't remember the exact modification I had to do but when installing the older 'Magnum' mounts into oem brackets I did have to alter things as well.
I also had to grind on a gen III hemi conversion mount set.

I think you’re on to something. Pulled engine back out and found this.
I’ll remove that corner and try again. This is what I LOVE about this place, you guys are awesome!

As mentioned, its just the motor mounts.
Haven't used to 440 source ones.
Have used the Anchor mounts, and never again. They are junk. The nuts were welded off center of the bolt hole.

So after a bunch of cutting and grinding I have the engine in its home. The brackets needed some removed but the factory brackets probably would have worked after cleaning up my buddie’s birdshit welds on the K frame.

They are about an inch thick give or take, my problem was the extra welds and the 440 Source bracket.

Glad u got it in there. I gave u the wrong number. They should be approximately 1 1/4 thick more or less.

Were you able to get the dip stick in while being able to use same location . the picture looks like it would not work . Hope so . Gary

Haven't tried installing the dipstick yet, might get to that today.
