Hawk's Cross Country 70 Road Runner Trip

I used Horseless Carriage to transport a 70 Satty Convertible from Iowa to Jersey. They did a great job and I recommend them highly. Rest easy Hawk.

BTW Hawk, I had pulled the car out of the garage around 8:00 to give the driver a landmark. By 8:10 Randy was circling the car, checking it out one more time. He stuck around thru the whole loading process. Now Randy is a dyed-in-the-wool Chevy guy, but he took a real liking to the Road Runner.

So the driver had to go through a whole series of monkey motions to balance the load but in the end your car went in without a hitch. The guy was a professional and I believe your cars' in good hands.

This angle makes the passenger side look tight, but there was plenty of room. The driver positioned the cars so that there was nothing directly above yours, no chance of drips ruining your paint.

I have nothing of merit to add, other than to THANK YOU for all the considerable efforts you fellas went to in making sure the rest of us could follow along on your journey.
What a uniquely American adventure that surely was. I enjoyed the hell out of it from here!

So what is nice is I think this is one of those rare win-win situations. Hopefully you all enjoyed the pictures and following along on our adventure. On our end, not only did we have an awesome support crew at FBBO, but we also got to meet some great people. One of my major regrets is not being able to meet more folks.

I feel really blessed to have been able to make the trip, and I am not overstating that if it wasn't for FBBO, it would never have happened. A key example is Rich, a complete stranger to me, gladly went out of his way to help me care for my car and safely see it shipped back. Without that, the trip would have been cancelled. I only met him for a couple of days, but I now consider the man a good friend. Another example is Paul, who gladly helped us with anything he could to help us make emergency adjustments and repairs on the road. Awesome! And then you have guys like Ron, Dennis, Stu and Darius who cruised or partied/met with us and just made the trip a lot of fun. Finally, you have guys like Bryan who kept fixing my stupid rotated pictures since it seems I was too incompetent to get them right in the first place! I am actually really sorry the timing didn't work out to meet Bryan...

In the end, hopefully everyone won!

Well, the car arrived home today. I have to echo the same sentiments as NJRR. Horseless Carriage was great. The driver was a true car guy, knew his stuff and inspired confidence. He treated the car with great respect and it arrived in perfect condition (well, as good as it was when I left it with Rich)!

Truck as it sat in front of my house - driver communicated well and arrived on time.

I know you have it elsewhere but what size are the wheels and tires?

Thanks! You have to thank Plymouth for the lines, but I certainly agree. As far as tires, the rear are 275/60R15 and the front are 245/60R15.
 
Now this is as cool as it gets. My neighbor down the street was walking his dog today and saw me outside. He said he wanted to show me a photo of an old Mopar he saw while camping a few weeks ago. Yep you guessed it!! The car was Hawks and i guess my neighbor (Dave) was in Yosemite on vacation and stayed in the same campground and got to hear the whole story of the trip. Man what a small world!!!

That is very cool!

Ask him if he watched the lunar eclipse with us - I am pretty sure that is who you are talking about. We chatted with them for awhile and then stuck around in the morning to let them take a few pictures.

It's a small world! Please tell Dave we say Hi!

Yes that is what he said that he watched the lunar eclipse with you guys. Dave lives right down the street and man i wish i he walked over and said hello!
 
This is awesome. Your Roadrunner looks really cool and I'm happy you're sharing with the world by taking it out on trip like this! :thumbsup:

I can't believe it was over 3 years ago now. The next trip is planned for next year (2020) in August time frame. This time we are driving coast to coast to coast! Too soon to start discussing it here now, but in about a year I'll go through the 'ol girl and make sure she is ready for another trip! I have a few small issues to address like a leaking windshield and some minor rattles and wind noise. All in all, pretty minor stuff!
