Hawk's Cross Country 70 Road Runner Trip

I can't believe it was over 3 years ago now. The next trip is planned for next year (2020) in August time frame. This time we are driving coast to coast to coast! Too soon to start discussing it here now, but in about a year I'll go through the 'ol girl and make sure she is ready for another trip! I have a few small issues to address like a leaking windshield and some minor rattles and wind noise. All in all, pretty minor stuff!

Well, I wasn't doing anything useful so I decided to go through your trip thread, too. Truly an awesome journey! This is something that I am going to do when I retire with my car. The only difference will be I won't have to stick to a schedule. I"LL BE RETIRED!!! LOL!
Also, I will be visiting friends and relatives that live all over the place. It will just require a lot of planning to have everything make sense. I applaud your planning and ability to fix things on the fly.

I did a lot of driving with my car back in my Navy days (65,000 miles in 2 years) but all of it east of the Mississippi. And that was back in 84-86. Completely bone stock car with no issues during all of that.

Just reading at the end of this thread, I take it your plans for another 2020 trip got shot down with the current situation. That really bites!

Hope to meet up with you in the coming year and get to talk about your next adventure.

Yes, unfortunately the pandemic cancelled our 2020 trip. Or perhaps I should say postponed. I will still do the trip, but need to wait until the country has opened back up again. Will that be spring 2021? Fall 2021? Later? Who knows. But the trip in 2015 is still one of the greatest things I have ever done. We had no set schedule besides the start date, end date and when we picked up the wives. Other than that, we went where we wanted and stopped when we felt like it. And seeing this beautiful country was awesome! I highly recommend getting out and driving these cars - so much fun!

When this thread came back up this morning, I scanned through all of the pictures and it's plain to see that we really do live in a beautiful country. When I stop working, I'd love to travel the country by road to experience all of the great sites, places and people of this great country.

Hi Hawk, Paul Here! Yeah this Pandemic really stopped the world from turning.
Glad to hear you and Barry are planning another "Go Around". If you're in the
neighborhood, maybe we can plan something like visiting MarPar. He couldn't
get away when you were here last time, and it would be a nice time for you
Guys to see two 68 GTX's born within weeks of each other in QQ!! Just had mine
painted, so will be trying to figure out where all the parts go this winter! Ha!

did you ever do the 2019 journey, coast to coast ?
or was that the Chinese Wuhan Flu,
Covid crap that stopped it part for (delayed) 2020 ?

Paul, Barry and I were just talking about you the other day. Whenever we get our next trip across country (2021?), we'd like to stop in your neck of the woods and do a two or three day work thrash on your car. We will have a "work party" to hopefully make some great progress on your project! You helped us work on my car in 2015, so next time we help you!
(And yes, in between, we have some nice hunks of meat with Mario for dinners - our treat!)

You have some great cars, I think yours are inspiration enough! You convertible project needs some metal work, but it will be awesome when done!

Yeah, the pandemic cancelled our 2020 attempt to go cross country both ways. We are now planning for 2021 or whenever this pandemic crap ends and the country opens back up.
