Hawk's Cross Country 70 Road Runner Trip

Fixed Hawk ... great photo's of Pikes peak and colorardo :)

Thank you sir! I will try to find other ways to check for this but it is hard since the PC seems to "know" the proper orientation and displays it properly in both the picture viewer and in file manager. I may try to save the files with insignificant changes and see if that works.

Go-Man-Go! If you get the pun! You guys are doing great! Have fun. We are!

Day 15:

So we loaded up the car with the girls and their luggage. To say the car is full is an understatement! All of our clothes, camping gear, tools, spare parts, cooler, car cover, etc. and then to add two more people with their luggage. Even the Road Runner's trunk now seems small!

We drove to Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park today. We drove route 34 around the park, and then did a really nice hike by a lake to some waterfalls. We ended the day with a nice dinner by the lake. For now, I only have pictures from my cell phone, so I'll have to download the "official" pictures tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow - we won't have many pictures to post, since we will be doing a 9 hour drive to Jackson/Yellowstone area. Tomorrow is mostly a long travel day.

In the mean time, here are a couple of pictures from today:

A view from a scenic lookout along Route 34 (in the park).

The falls area that we hiked to. It was about a 7 mile hike round trip.

A nice day!

Yeah, The trunk was full when you were at my place, so two more people AND their luggage! You got a roof rack? Stop and mail your unwanted supplies back home if you can to save room. I know when we go on vacation my Wife takes a Steamer Trunk! Beautiful Scenery.

Hawk, where art thou??

We have almost no connection here in Yellowstone, but have TONS of awesome pictures! Will try to upload very soon if I can...

Hawk

You're at one of the coolest places in the US - Yellowstone/Grand Tetons/Jackson Hole; awesome country out there. And buy the ladies a drink at the Million Dollar Bar in DT Jackson.

Haven't heard a word about your EFI system - must be working OK. You have to wonder what the trip would have been like running a carb with all the elevation changes. Happy Trails!

Probably washing the car!

Actually the car is looking quite dusty and dirty - no place to wash it here!!!

You are very right - this has to be one of the coolest areas around. I have so many cool pictures and such crappy bandwidth it is a shame. I also have some really cool videos. We caught old faithful blowing it's top on video, and a lot of the other pools close by are super cool.

...but I am getting ahead of myself. I won't (for now) post any pictures of Day16, as this was our drive up to Tetons/Yellowstone. We did catch on the dash cam a big Bison running out directly in front of the car. A herd was crossing the road (in the dark) and he decided it was time to cross. He put his head down and damn the torpedoes; he was going! Cool video, but I will have to upload this later.

Due to limited bandwidth, let me post this and then add Day 17 and 18 pictures.

Hawk, If you want an awesome dinner experience stop by the Old Faithful Inn inside Yellowstone park for Baron of Buffalo inside the dining room, amazing.

Waiting for those pics!

Day 17:
We went to Yellowstone and checked out the geysers and then went and checked out some falls. Both were absolutely fantastic. Here are few selected pictures of the day:

Sorry - no go. I tried uploading one picture and finally gave up - it is just not working. The lodge has a VERY limited satellite link. I am not even sure this update will post. I will try soon again...

That's some gorgeous scenery, Hawk!!!

what is that car in the background?? a 40's era coupe?

Man I'm jealous, how many miles have you logged on your trip?

I finally got some WiFI at a McDonald's in Jackson...

EFI system is working great. I have given the car additional timing, and having it come in earlier. The car wants more timing when driving with low RPM and high load. On the highway and with full vacuum advance, I am now running 60*...

Thanks - we tried, but we couldn't get reservations...

Yes. It just so happened that two drove by as I was taking the picture! Nice, huh?

We are just shy of 4000 miles at this point.

OK, finally, here come the pictures. Day 17 and Day 19. We spent two days in Yellowstone and one in Tetons. Not enough. These parks are both astounding. I recommend them for anyone.

We caught Old Faithful on video too, but here is a picture.

We thought many of the other geysers were really neat. Lots of colors and different shapes.

LOTS of animals in the road. The Bison really didn't give a hoot if your car was there. THEY own this park and go where they bloody well please - even if it is right in front of your car!

I think this one made it, but this was on our trip around the East side of the "loop" around Yellowstone

Here are a couple of the falls from the East side. These were really nice to see

OK, now to Day 18 - The Tetons:

From a car picture perspective - does it get any better than this? This is my favorite so far...

As I said, these parks are awesome. In my opinion, these are absolutely worth the trip. Like many tourist places, they are not cheap, but they are absolutely worth it.

Today we are heading into Idaho. We will drive past the Craters of the Moon Park and then head towards Twin Falls. Tomorrow we will drop into Nevada for a tough driving day.

Awesome shots! I agree about the one with the Tetons in the background.
