HEADERS that FIT... HELP???

I have Hooker Super Comps with1 7/8 primaries on my 1969 Charger, 400 based stroker with a factory starter and they fit perfect. Now I will say when I had the 727 in it the passenger side was practically touching the trans pan which would have cleared easily with a RB.

I have a related question, sorry for the hijack...

Why are headers different for b-bodies 62-65 vs 66-70? Looking at engine bay pics I don't see much different other than the firewall.

The engine is forward on the K-frame approx. 1 5/8" on the '62-'65 B body compared with later B bodies.

I bought a set of used (Dougs) off of a '67 Coronet and they fit perfect in a '64 / 383 Polara!

My question is has anyone really noticed the difference in the total height of headers for a "B" block vs a "RB"? I know some outfits will ask some don't. Will a set for a "B" block have better ground clearance on a "RB" or will it be too tight on the floor of the vehicle?

My 63 has the stock K-frame and a 440 type eng. Now it has 2" TTI's with the TTI 3" exh and everything fits perfect. TTI's are the best to me. But on my old 440 I did have 1-3/4 Hedman headers that fit fine. I will say the TTI's are a better quality header but if cash is very tight the 1-3/4 Hedmans fit fine and it ran 11.49 with them on it. Ron

Still looking guys - anyone have a good set of used? Prefer 2" but won't be too picky at this point.

Hello Mike ! you have a Bad *** Car, Just spend the money on a New set..,Once you get them on you wont regret it, i bought (4) YES 4 sets of used headers and ended up with a new set of TTI... i wasn't Happy with the fit and Look of the others...No regrets after all said and done. And remember there is a Big Deference in 62-65 VS 66-70 in header selection, Good Luck Mike

Take the plunge! I have TTi's in both my 65 Belvedere II 493 and my 72 Dart 440. It's money well spent.

Ok guys... So where is the best place to get a set of new TTI's shipped? What is the part number I want? Need a good fit first try...

I went through Chicago Connection. They are listed as a dealer on their website and the guy was very helpful.

I have the Hedmans in the 65 Coronet with a 440. I had to dimple the pipes at the mini starter and by one of the spark plugs but I have Edelbrock heads with the angle plugs. Without the mini starter and the angle plug heads I bet they fit perfect!

Mike, I had the same problem 40 yrs ago, discovered quite by accident that the 64 b's had a k member that set the engine forward 2 inches farther than the 66's and later b's. my k was broke so I put in a 67 x k, didn't know there was a difference til I started to put the shifter in. afterwards the car hooked better, and transfered better. after that I bought headers for a 66 ply. and never had a fitment issue after that. Dave.

My '65 Coronet with 2" TTI headers,,3" TTI exhaust with X pipes takes a different set of collectors.
System fits fantastic but the parking brake cable is now a problem,,,,,,I haven't addressed it yet
Crusty

I'm wondering if the 65 is different than the 64 for park brake cable? It must be the X pipe making the problem. I have the 2" TTI's on mine and the park brake cable is not a problem. The cable just goes up over the pipes and through the factory floor board brackets to the diff image.jpg. The 2" TTI in my opinion is the only way to go. Yeah the cost is more but you get what you pay for and this 64 they would be going on is worthy of them.

I am interested in this thread, but I have a 62 Belvedere with a later 360 LA engine.....what application will work with this car/engine combo?
