Hellcat Owners Tired of being buzzed by Stangs?

This reminds me a lot of the gunfighters of the old west. After a while they get tired of all the punk kids that come to town to challenge the best gunfighter around. They take off their guns, move away and become a farmer.

As relates to this thread, after too many challenges, you would have to sell your Hellcat, move away and buy a Prius!
way too many people on the roads now to do the stuff we used to do ! or, am I growing up ?

I'd burn that Prius before I'd drive it......:D

Can a Hell Cat Challenger beat a Viper?
How about a GT350R?
Can it beat the NISSAN Twin Turbo car?

Who cares....the Challenger is a better looking car than they are....except for the Viper :D

when i was on the interstate running 70mph and a mustang pulled up next to me and revved it up, i told my buddy watch this...6th gear to 3rd wave bye bye to the mustang. guess he didn't think a 6.1 HEMI 6 SPEED was stuffed in the ol rust bucket. next spring the scowl is getting a implant...6psi of whipple. buh ha ha ha.

If I'm in one of my crappy cars, yes I have some of those too. I 'll rev at a nice car just hoping he'll light it up strictly for my entertainment. Not to get them in trouble, just to see an exhibition of acceleration.

It's not a rhetorical question
Is the Hellcat Challenger faster than those cars?

I'd sure like to know...
Simply put, what is the current fastest car in the 1/4 mile?

-I know the Hellcat Charger is faster than the Hellcat Challenger on top end...

nevermind. it was the Viper ACR and a Trans-Am Challenger

Sometimes that's just a friendly gesture and maybe to hear you rev it up for their listening pleasure. Could be the guy had one back in the day. While I cherish my '63 Fury drop top, I always regretted letting my '70 Cuda drop top go for peanuts 30 years ago. A lot of us older guys who lived through the muscle car era have similar regrets. What get's me pissed is driving my old ride five or even 10 over the limit and some soccer mom in her monster SUV is right on my bumper. I see this often when guys are cruising in their beautiful rides and somehow people think they have to crawl up their butt having the right of way. I've had some close calls with idiots nearly rear-ending me. Then I wonder how I'd find a new bumper, quarters, etc. as my car is a pristine body CA. Then what I'd tell them about the hundreds of hours of time and thousands in cash I got in it that they wrecked!

Kinda depends on what Viper you're talking about. If I'm not mistaken, the ACR is actually a bit slower than the non ACR's mainly because of the down force it creates vs the other Vipers. The ACR is more of a road course car. I'm still not sure what their top speed is though.

200 mph......well, I'm never going to do that on a public road so it's not that important to me but I do think it's pretty cool that a production car produces so much power and also think it's pretty cool that you can shop the different brands. It kinda reminds me of the 60's and early 70's. It does seem kinda strange that the cars are all going so fast on the top end. Back when the road runners were all over the place, it was mostly about 1/4 mile times and not much about how fast they would go on the top end.

I got one of my 07 Shelby GT500s "UP" to 143 and "Engine cut-off" kicked in. (I thought the hood was going to fly off)
Year 2009, I-40 East on a stretch of highway from Mojave Desert CA 20 miles before Needles AZ on my way to see cousins in Scottsdale AZ

These cars today "Blow Away" the cars of yester year, top end AND 1/4 mile times

Oh man, I hate that crap. My first experience with that limiter was back in 92 with a new 5.2 Dakota with 3.90 gears. I was racing a buddy out on some way out back road and he was drafting me with a Turbo Z Charger with a 4 banger. Those would run 130! He was about to use the draft off of me to try and get around when my limiter kicked it off at 115. WTH!!? Only 115? Really? I'm surprised he didn't run into the back end! I was ready to buy a performance computer that day!

For sure! But I still like the mechanical stuff. Tuning with a lap top just doesn't appeal to me very much but I do like not having to tune the daily drivers so much like you have to do with a carb but man, when things go wrong out on the road, it's not exactly an easy thing to figure out what's wrong. Just call AAA to drag it in. Got to admit driving a beater Dakota for 21 years with not even so much as putting a kit in the throttle body has been pretty nice. It needs one but I probably won't do it until it quits running lol. It has had one new set of plugs with a cap and rotor though....that should keep it happy for awhile longer :D

So, the "REAL-STORY" fella's is:
IF the Challenger HellCat came out earlier, I'd have one in my garage
Sure the Shelby GT500 was (is) neat
I was fortunate enough to get Shelby's signature before he passed
My neighbor has a very nice "White" 2012 Challenger
It is:
1. Iconic looking (I call him Kowalski)
2. It is much more "roomier" inside
3. Quieter inside
4. More head and leg room (He is 6'3")
5. Chrysler uses 18" or 19" tires and the Shelby does not.

My GT500 was great when it was new (still is, 200 miles on a 2007) but AGAIN FORD flooded the market at the "owners expense"
I sold the second one for $30K in 2013
They did not hold their value after "over production"

My opinion is still: GET A VIPER before it is too late!
