Help ID a distributor

I have 2 distributors 1 has a ID tag 2875772 ibs 4014B , the other has no ID tag, but is 98 % the same, the only difference is it does not have the O ring grove at the base that fit into the engine block. Would that be an earlier year, both have the 69 vac advance style? see pics Thanks

I was wondering which ones have the o-ring also. And I figured the o-ringed ones didn't use the gasket but I have no idea if that is true.

Yes the 440 4 speed is a 69 dual point setup, both distributors are dual point and the shaft length is the same, both have IB21castedin the bottom and 2 holed next to the casting

Are there any way to tell if its a 1968 dual point and what engine it would be for?

Non O ring that used a metal gasket usually pre 68, no way to tell till you take it apart and tell the part numbers and clocking. Only in the prestolite parts books, no idea why the IPB did not use the prestolite numbers! Just FYI all the cast Iron housings have those mumbers on the castings. Band RB and LA are the same just machined differently.

Yea. Of the 7 distributors I found in a box. 2 where the cast style with numbers on the side 2 are tagged 340 4 speeds, 1 440 4 speed. Was a 440 -6 pack a different style or tag number? Thanks for all the help.

All have different tag numbers, shaft length and rotations from LA to RB. Internals tell the tale always tag or not. You need to find a set of presto;ite manuals to look in. Unfortunately cant share that info again, guy screwed me on it a while back.

The shaft has a part number, and the cam also does. Those 2 part numbers can tell you what year model. Also tells you the curve info by crossing it with other data in the books. The vacuum advance has a stamp # on arm. Again helps with curve and part number too see if original to the distributor.

Need to take the cam off to see the part numbers. If you provide I can tell you what it goes too. G

Great,, the arm has a 10 on it, will have to disassemble it. I have never done that, is there a site that shows or info on how to due the disassemble process

LD shaft is the 66-67 Hemi and 440 4 spd shaft. On the cam plate, you need to remove the felt in center and remove the spring clip. That removes cam off shaft. Need the 2 digit letters under the cam plate. X on top, but the part number is on bottom. That can help determine which distributor specifically.

It is an IBS-4006 ? Type. I would guess it is a 67 Hemi IBS-4006P. Need that 2 letters on cam to confirm.

The vacuum can is an IAZ-2023LA, which is used on the Hemi. Assuming internal spring is correct.
