So I have a 318 that I'm trying to get running but when I go get parts I don't know what year its from. When I scraped some crud off it had a light blue or green color to it. Its actually in a 74 international truck. Also I read I can put a stock 440 cam in a 318. Is that correct. Thanks for the help.

a RB cam in in a "LA" ? Nope can't be done . Btw , look on that passengerside for the build date .

What shorty said. 318 is a small block. 440 is a big block. Nothing but a few bolts will interchange between them. And check the block like he said for the cast date

Alright thanks guys for help. Do y'all know any quick mods that will pep it up a bit? I'm fixing it up as a gift for my father in law and want to give it some more power.

About the cam. It says on allpar that its the 340/360 H.P. cam that can go into a 318. What do y'all think?

A 340 cam might be a good choice if you're gonna change the intake and carb to something that will work with it (check the power bands). And remember, if you change to a more aggressive cam, you'll have to change valve springs as well

Thanks 69runner I guess ill start with some headers and exhaust. I already rebuilt the carb, cleaned the water pump, gonna change fluids and replace timing chain. Some body work and ill have a happy in law. Thanks for the help guys!
