This should be a 2bbl on a 383 1968 Charger. Also *should be a stromberg but I don't recognize it, nor can I find an internet pic of this thing.
Any help Identifying it?
Don't mind the rat poo!
Also, what's the thing to do here? Edlebrock bolt on and run? Rebuild and spend a lifetime getting this to run right? Options?
Thanks!

You might want to check engine and intake casting numbers. Could very well be a 400 engine.

This would be a great opportunity to install either a factory or Edelbrock 4-barrel intake with a 650 cfm. Edelbrock carb. Don't forget automatic choke kit and Mopar linkage adapter.

I'll do that, but the fender tag says it's a 383, and everything else looks like its stock, so I tend to think that's what it is... But 50 years is a long time too, anything can happen!

From what I've read, you don't want a 400.
400s are better. Bigger bore. Probably what you've read from the ignorant people is they're whining about the factory lower compression pistons. You'd most likely be replacing them in a rebuild so that's not a reason to dislike the 400.

It looks like the paint remaining on the valve covers is torquoise which is correct for 1968 383. A 400 would be blue.

In person it looked very blue, being new to mopar it looked close to "GM Corporate blue".

Ok I think I get it. The Holley 2245 Carb was typical on the later 400s, hence the "check the block to be sure" comments.
Thanks!
