Hey guys
So for right now I think I will rebuild the original block for the mean time. I did some research and getting some different info on-line. Is this a 383 or a 361? Block ID online says 361. But the stamping says 383. Want to build mild street and save for strip motor for next year.

The 2128854 is the casting number for a 361 or 383.
11-26-63 0n the side of the block would be the casting date.
v 38 would be a 1964 383.
12-4 would be the engine installation date in 1963.

Hope this will help

Jeff

It looks like it has some modern heads on it. Perhaps 452's. The good thing about those is the hard seats, assuming they are still intact.

Phew. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Now I can start planning.
Will have to get the cast numbers off the heads.
