Hi Rebuilding a 1970 727, all looks good but the front pump rotor pocket and rotors look pretty bad. I have a spare front pump, but it is a 1974. I would like to know if I can use the front pump from the 1974, but use the reaction shaft support from the 1970.
I know there is a different in the reaction shaft support between the two years, 1971 up wider bushing and different oil holes. But are the pump housings the same expect for the way it vents.
Thanks Jason

Use the early reaction shaft support with the later pump housing and rotors. That being said I can buy rebuilt pumps from my local wholesaler for less the $40.

If there's any trans parts houses in your area, you should be able to get new front pump rotors for not much money. But, either way will work.

Thanks, I will see if my local trans shop has a early front pump (62-70). If not then I will use the 74 front pump housing, buy new rotors and use the original 1970 reaction shaft support.

62-66 will not work. The reaction shaft support is a smaller internal diameter. The late drum is a good idea also and equally as cheap.
