Hemi Orange vs. Chevy Orange

Anyone know which is darker or are they basically the same? Also is Hemi orange used for the 1970 motor or is that a different orange?

HP engines used Hemi orange.

"Street" Hemi Orange and chevy orange are virtually indistinguishable and darker, whereas, "Race" Hemi Orange is lighter because of more yellow.

When I had my engine rebuilt the shop asked me what color I wanted it painted - I was unsure and he suggested Hemi Orange. I agreed and when I collected it he gave me a box with some leftover gaskets etc which also had the remainder of a paint can for touch ups. I only realized a few weeks later when I looked at the can it said Chevy Orange....

Well I would definitely pull that motor and get it painted with the correct paint hahaha JK Looks great!

this motor is chevy orange. My body man is a MOPAR or no car guy. He painted with his paint gun.

When you have both beside each other there is a difference and I think the chevy color looks lighter beside true hemi orange is a little darker. Lee

I tried using Chevy orange and honestly I couldn't stand how orange it is compared to street hemi orange. it didn't even come close to matching my 440 magnum pie tin. there IS a difference. maybe I'm just picky but I couldn't live with it

Engine is not supposed to match a cleaner lid.. lids (that are to be orange) are supposed to match an OE Fram filter elements colour, which is lighter than engine colour.

Let's see... from what i understand, there is....early hemi orange, late hemi orange, air cleaner orange, race hemi orange( and max wedge, very yellowish), ..... and chevy orange. How dedicated to being correct are you? LOL.
Then there are the variations between brands of spray cans that are supposed to be the same color, and aren't.

Mine's a bit on the redish side, but part of that illusion is the gloss vs OE paint. Carousel Red / Firecracker Orange. My paint man had it on the shelf and blasted/painted my engine as my Birthday present for me 3 years ago. My cleaner lid is Duplicolors "Hemi Orange" out of a rattle can and matches the air cleaner element spot on.

It's a Chrysler Power Windtunnel Manifold on a 392 cube stroked Poly engine.I wish it was in my car!
