Hey guys new here.

Update: Engine is getting machined currently. I'm hoping to have it back in before winter. Long story short I had a terrible engine builder that got pretty much everything wrong. Timing gears were off, cylinder walls were pitted reluctor wheel was installed on small block slot. dizzy was junk regardless...and that's just the beginning, I could go on and on. So now I'm in the processes of getting it machined and building it myself.

The engine is finished getting machined and crank polished. I will be working on getting it put back together now but could use some help along the way. It was bored .030 over and has kieth black 240 pistons, I'm at a loss of what head gaskets to get. Could someone shed some light on it.

Common head gaskets are .039 thick like the felpro gaskets. Take a look at the bore size listed/thickness and the price. If your block/head surfaces have been machined you can use a shim and get a little more compression. Depending on how much machine work has been done the .020 thick shims are .3 higher compression... still only 8.8:1 (assuming) you have 90cc heads w pistons .024 below the deck. I would try to run the thinnest gasket on a 400 if possible like the Mr. Gasket.
