can someone tell me why some headlight doors say dodge on them and others don't.my '71 charger has the word dodge on the door but pics of other '71's i've seen don't. thanks.

No I cant tell you but I know what you mean I see different things like that too . I just got done installing a set on my charger . Had no knowledge and very little help so if you are working on a set I can probably answer any questions.....I know I didnt get any help and had to learn as I went . I wished someone could have offered their help to me lol . I had a motor that wouldnt even turn and couldnt find no one local to touch it so I had to tear it down to, got it working like new . So if anyone needs any help or even pictures of the insides of one of the motors just ask .

I've got at least 2 and I think 3 of those motors for my 72, and all of them have the same problem - not wanting to turn under electrical power. They can all be operated manually, so they are not seized. I can get a couple of them to work very slowly by powering them straight off the battery, but I'm sure that's a lot higher electrical load than the car's electrical system will send to the motor. I've been debating trying to find someone to work on one of them, or just tearing into one myself. I'd be happy to look at any photos you have and hear about any tricks you learned along the way before I open one up.

Roadrunnerman I've seen that to. My 71 Charger has the word dodge on its door. I don't know why some do and some don't but it would be nice to know.

All of the 71 doors I've seen have Dodge on them, but none of the 72 doors do. If I recall correctly, there are some small differences in the doors as far as trim goes. I don't know if this holds true for all 71 and 72 head light doors, just the ones I've seen. I know people have transplanted systems on cars that didn't originally have them. I got one set from a 74 Charger that were from a 72.

Just a guess, but maybe some of the late 71 models got the 72 doors as part supplies ran low at the assembly plants?
