how many can remember there very first model that they built

Can't remember the first but remember I could not wait for the paint to dry so always had finger prints on everything. First car spray painted found a can of Dad's spray lacquer and melted the body. Still have my first trophy. Not for athletics but for Model Slot Car Drag Racing. After 70 years still have too many trains,planes and automobiles. Thanks for the memories. Dave

My first model was of a Viper R/T 10, that I got at about 10. Built pleny of models, rode my bike for miles, played in the crick beside the house, action figures when I was stuck indoors, and quite a few family games.

Most of the hobby shops are gone. Thanks to online shopping. The kids of today don't venture into any of those hobbies. I belong to model airplane club and train club and no new blood anymore. Trains are the worse because the cost is beyond what a kid could pay for a set, even though everything is made in China. Just give a young kid an ipad or a video game and that's their entertainment.

Slotcar racing was the greatest !! Once I get a few more projects out of the way and reclaim my basement I may build another track.

'60 Desoto Adventurer convertible

circa 1976. I was about 8.

wait....not car specific...I built buildings for MRR.

IIRC the first was a coaling tower and then a gas station.

Probably around 1974 at age 6.
