Finally stopped raining so I was gonna fire up the car to see how the new rad worked. Fired up like normal,no choke so I have to feather the throttle a little bit when it's cold. No biggie but I went up front to check the fuel filter and it died. Ok no prob ( electric fuel pump is still running) so I get back in to start it and it's flooded.F@@K! So I take the air cleaner off, fuel pours out of it. Primary bowl is overflowing. I just rebuilt this damn carb. Took out needle and seat,no trash on it. Took off front bowl, took out float....G.D! Brass float ain't a float it's an anchor, full of fuel. I guess maybe when it's not raining again I'll get to take it down the road.

i just went thru a bunch of dumb stuff the last 2 weeks. when your playing with these old dinosaurs expect anything.

Sometimes that happens......but I think the brass floats are better. Be thankful you didn't get a fire with the flood! Been there before too lol

Got brass and nytrophyl floats from part store. I used the nytrophyl one. I put the bowl back on and noticed something white inside the bowl when I looked through the sight glass. I took the bowl back off and noticed the sight glass was all hazed up. Tried to take it out and the damn thing twisted the threads off. Luckily it left a couple threads. Well I put all that back together then attempt to install the phenolic spacer..... Some A-hole put helicoils in the intake for 3/8" bolts, which would be fine if they were centered with the original holes......but no I had to drill out and slot the holes in the spacer. That only took like 7 tries to get it to fit. It's on now, just gotta fire it up and hope it doesn't literally fire up.

Fired up good. Idled ok,but I noticed the primary fuel bowl was a little low. I adjusted that up then noticed it was too high. That went back and forth about 3 times. Finally I got fed up and just left it a little low. This all happened while I was running it and engine was warm. I'm thinking the vapor lock isn't letting enough fuel get to the carb and each time I adjust the level it finally just goes up way too much. ?? I'm gonna wrap the fuel lines and see how that works......hopefully bad ***.

Update....I wrapped the fuel lines. Seemed to be a little better. Still had an issue with hot fuel. I was putting new gauges in- water/oil/volt and decided to check the thermostat. It was a 160° but it wasn't seating or opening properly. Put in a 180° thermostat and the car ran fine. No overheating , fuel problems resolved.
