I like Hot Rod. The 2nd gen Chargers and E body's seem to be the targets of customizing "experts". Some have looked pretty good, some not as good as stock. I agree when I saw this latest build and what the builder didn't like is part of the character that I did. This build isn't as good looking as the stock vehicle. The longer wheelbase may be more modern but I like the long nose overhang. The missing sculpture lines make it look like a blob. White is lame on a custom build. Overall, yuck.

(not a bs thing i stared at it for 30 minutes thinking "something doesnt look right but i cant figure it out" i had to find an article about it to determine if i was right or not

The work was stellar, attention to detail, the fit & finish is great, paint is flawless etc.
give credit where credit is due, but;
IMO the final product/design left little to be desired, for me anyway...
The wheels, the diameter, steelies {overdone} non the less & offset sucks,
poverty caps overdone, wheels like it's a FWD car all the offset to the inside,
no exposure outside, for big wide rims & tires
tucked bumpers {no big deal}, stretched the front wheelbase,
moved the openings & shortened the rear quarters & deck, rear areas,
sort of looked like a "gen 3 wanta bee" {fucked up some great org. design lines}

Albeit IMO Ring Bros. do great work "usually",
I'm sure it drives & handles like a dream too, they do great work !!
BUT;
I didn't care for that final product of that one either,
ruined the "near perfect lines" of a gen 2 Charger IMO
{the owner is a member of FBBO too}...

I love The Dukes. Just sayin. They built a whole mess of Chargers from 68-70. I don't think they wrecked enough to put a dent in that number. Dont get me wrong..i don't care to see any of these old cars get wrecked but it happens plenty outside of Hollywood.

The Dukes show was all in fun and when the show was airing (79 to 85), what were the cars worth?? Heck, I bought a really nice big block 70 Challenger in 1980 for 2k and you could buy a 318 Charger for a lot less than that! The show bought a lot of cars for just a few hundred bucks each and was clean entertainment so was the show really all that bad??

And there are some guys that spend a bunch on a car and end up wrecking them by accident

Looks to me like they slanted the windshield more and moved the roof farther back. the rear of the roof is not where it should be. it isn't bad- but isn't right. thats my opinion.

dukes was not my fav show in the first place, and using one of my personal favorite cars too (and all the clones since) just aggravates me, and like others -that's my opinion. while I never spoiled the lines of my 70 Hemi cuda-I did destroy it by making it a race car. but they too ,in that era were within reach. and we thought they would always be here ,hers to 1970 and how stupid I was....

don't remember the guys name who bought my '62 Dart wagon. Bob?? from Georgia I think. he owned a body restoration and custom shop there if I remember right. he did what I consider a great job on a 70's cuda
they stretched the front end (wheelbase) putting more fender and hood between the wheel well and firewall. they also "cranked up" the back of the car from rear wheel well backside to the bumper, not raise the entire back end. to give the rear a lot of air under the back, the result was it looked very close to a street driven funny car. they painted it red and it was in some magazines that was a tasteful customizing job. some of you probably have pictures of that car.

{poorly done Posers/wanta-bees} running around today...
But too each their own, it's their car do what they will with it,
I may not like it, but who cares it's not mine...
Now if it real & actually an org. GL DOH show car,
it will have better value, far more respect too...

Or like the GL DOH tribute that Kenny Wayne Sheppard did...

I'm also one who says, if someone asks me what I think,
I may say, I may not like it & I may give my own honest opinion;
BUT;
I also like to say;
"build your car with what ever parts you deem necessary,
clone or **** retentive OE purist, it doesn't matter one bit,
build it how you want to do it, it's your car do what ever you want with it,
do what ever makes you happy, who fucken' cares what other people think...

don't ask what others think, if you don't want their opinions either...

I'm also that guy who said "it takes a real man can build/cut up a car"
& could actually make it better, not just be a typical no vision or forethought
& just another parts replacer, cookie cutter car like 100,000 others out there...

I have changed my mind some in that aspect...
I do have great respect for those that do good restoration now...
Been there done that, just not my deal, but know all the hard work
that goes into it too...
I'm just more of a day 2 guy...

When I was younger, they were plentiful & If I had the chance
I'd have cut & tubed built everything at one time & never regretted it one bit...

I don't have any problem with the Org. DOH show/series or the new movie
& what they did...
I don't like they wrecked so damn many gen 2 Chargers way back when,
always seemed a gen 2 Charger was being wrecked in "movies/shows a lot",
but they were just used cars, cheap cars too, still way back then,
nothing like the prices they bring today...
Now they are collector cars, finally getting some well deserved respect...

In more recent times but still many years ago, I rescued a 68 Hemi roadrunner drag car and a 70 T/A Challenger by parting all the race stuff including cutting out full cages and both were done when prices had just started to sky rocket. Thing is, the guys that bought them both doubled their money in a short time but I didn't do too bad either and ended up with a lot of racing parts to boot and enjoyed saving them.

gotta agree -no matter my opinion of the finished product as it sits which I may not like ,I always appreciate the worksmanship. I built a hot rod 37 topolino with a 270 Dodge hemi tube chassis, 118" wheelbase, looked like a race car- I painted it in 2 stage epoxy semi black when done I went over the whole car with KRCSGB) Krylon Rattle Can Semi Gloss Black. to many times at shows people look at a car dripping with cool touches awesome craftsmanship and- give all the credit to the painter,I decided that car was going to live or die in rattle can prime. no regrets.

The front wheels were moved forward, they sectioned the area behind the rear wheels, taking something like 3 to 4 inches out....WHY ? That the hell was gained by that? There is no need to "correct the proportions" of the 68-70 Charger. The lines flow perfectly as it was built.

I had to get some profile pictures of a '68 charger to do a comparison and the windshield rake and roof connection at the rear are both correct, thats what I get for thinking. I like the lengthened wheel base though, that pretty much looks good if not over done
