Hood hinge springs? How do you change them?

Well my little fabrication on the clips worked pretty well. The molding is on.
The next thing is the hood letters. I'm going to have to figure out what to use because the pegs on the letter will not go all the way through the hood. It's much thicker. Then I think I'm going to put "383 FOUR BARREL" on the sides of the scoop.

Couldn't help it. Hood pins started. Drilled a couple 1/2" holes in the upper crossbar over the headlights and put the pins in. Now I just need to mark and drill big holes in the hood. Kinda nervous about that.

Just remember that the hood comes down in an arc. I've found that the best way to locate the holes in the hood is to get under the car with the hood closed and try to snake a long piece of welding rod or drill rod straight up from the bottom, through the pin mounting holes. If you can get it to the bottom of the hood, take it out and put a dab of white grease on the end of the rod and resnake it up through the hood pin mounting holes until it again touches the bottom of the hood. When you open the hood, your hole locations will be marked. Use a couple of layers of blue tape on the top of the hood and drill from below with an 1/8" bit. Then drill from above with the right size bit, a little oversized, for your pins. Hood looks great, BTW.

Got the hood drilled and pins mounted. Just need to secure the plates on the hood.
