Hood Pins : What Where When and Why?

Not a good idea if you have to pop the hood to put out a fire.
I came to the same conclusion, and took it out. Bob also sold me the car for less than the value of the NOS trim he'd put on it. He didn't always make the best decisions, but we are able to laugh about it over 40 years later.

because they are cool:fool:
I would rather not have them but they were already there when I bought the car. It does give it a racy look.

On this subject…..what would it take to change a 70 b-body to an interior “pull handle” hood release?

I would have to ask, what models came with a remote release? Later models for sure. Mopar didn't change the hood latch and how it mounts between models, for many years. Like the trunk latches. I put a remote release on my Swinger. Love it.

74-76 Duster and Dart Sport.
Valiant Brougham and Dart SE.

Sorry, thought A body was specified.

74 started seeing a lot more inside release hoods across all lines.

Therefore- 74-79 B body are good donors.

When I was still daily driving my A12, I replaced two of the hoodpins with aftermarket pins with a bigger thru-hole, and replaced the hairpins with padlocks.
Must have worked. I've still got my hood.

I used four pins on my gutted steel Cortina hood. It never went anywhere either at 130.
