Trying to decide which direction to go in, most likely a 6 pack style lift off but hard to stay away from good old hinged. What is better a scooped lift off or a air grabber stock style set up? Or??

You'll get tired of a lift off eventually. I just replaced my lift off glass hood with an OEM steel hood on hinges. I got so tired of needing help to take the darn thing on and off and where to safely sit it when off. I tried using the glass hood on the OEM hinges but even with no springs at all it seemed like it was going to crack in half. I really like having the steel hood back on with - working hinges. I'll gladly live with the extra 50 lbs.....

Thats up to you,
I have a love/hate relationship with my 6bbl hood. I love the look, It does get annoying to remove it and replace it. You can do it all yourself, (I usually do) removing it's easy, but before i put it on i lay down a towel on each fender so i don't scratch them. I had the wind push on it once as i was placing it back on and the corner scratched my fender.

A-12 style hoods or similar

Unlimited Products Fiberglass, sells a nice hinged 6bbl style hood, also AAR Fiberglass Products, sells a nice hinged 6bbl style hood, Year One sells the closest to the original A-12 style lift off hood replicas, pins, lanyards & supports $800-$1000+ with all the components... I've had several 68-69 RR's with 6bbl/six pac Lift off hoods they are nice to look at but can be a pain in the A$$ too, my next one will be hinged probably, that is if I ever build another 68-69 RR... If you order from any company insure the product is packed well & have it checked before the delivery driver leaves... I have received a couple that have been pretty badly damaged & it's a long wait to get another one usually, especially from Year One... I think U.S.Body Source sells them also maybe

I like the lift up hoods, there and attached. But with the lift off hood it really would do away with the endless times we slam our heads on the hood latch! :)
