Hoovie buys a Superbird

OK, somehow I managed to miss it, no great loss. For some reason Motortrend TV seems to be reshowing a lot of older stuff recently, maybe new production was curtailed by Covid?
Hopefully weather will improve here soon and I can get out and about rather than stuck inside watching Kindig, and that doofus with the baseball cap pulled halfway down his head in Houston destroying perfectly good trucks on TV every evening week after week.
I hate winter....

No, I was just pointing it out. That's how he ended up with the Wagoneer he still has last time I knew. Don't know if he still has the Jurassic Park Wrangler anymore either which he got because of that show.

He did that show I think about three years ago originally. Not sure if there was a second season. Last I knew, this show was short lived for so many episodes.

I think you’re right, i turned it on last night not knowing what it was - never heard of it. I immediately changed the channel once I saw who it was. The tv description said it originally aired in 2019.

im sorta confused,i watched the vid and H is the code for a 340 car isnt it??
are you saying its a retagged slant six body originally?

He claims his problems are all solved now.
Can't comment a lot on the dyno numbers since i dont know much about this engine build but i think the 500whp/tq range is a great place to be on the street. :)

Now if he fixes the mess in the glovebox, gets rid of the roll cage in favor of subframe connectors and gets nice rims it would be a great looking car.
I personally would get rid of the computer controlled crap and install a carburetor and dual points ignition setup aswell but i do understand many people like this modern stuff.

If you aspire to buy Hoovies rebody hemi Superbird, your chance to own it is coming up at Barret Jackson’s upcoming Houston auction

Interesting how he buys this car, fixes all the problems, and says I always wanted to own this car and is now getting rid of it. It's probably better off anyways

The results

Somebody paid 170k (Plus 10% fees i guess?) for his superbird.

NASCAR Marty Robbins, he would race all day, then go back to his regular job as an entertainer singer.
Seen him multiple times on variety shows coming straight from the track.
The real Mr. Cool.

I watched a few of the YT videos that "Hoovie" posted that our forum members linked here. Although I have been watching car related YT videos for information and entertainment for years, and since we dropped DirecTV a few months ago, I watch a LOT more YT w/commercial-free "premium" level, I had never seen nor heard of Hoovie or "the wizard" before...
Personally I wouldn't want to buy a hacked 'bird or Daytona just because it certainly will cost more than a clone and never have the kind of resale/intrinsic value of "the real thing" that hasn't had major frame/structural replacement sections added in from another car. Front fenders, rear quarter panels, other "panels" or sections that AMD produce I wouldn't consider being a major part.
What I'm trying to say is for me, assuming I had the financial wherewithal to do either a well-done clone or a real, "no major structural parts replacement" actual car, it SHOULD BE one or the other. Buying a car like this one will always come with who knows what kind of direction debate/conversation about VALUE. If it's an investment, get one that's not hacked together, or take your chances on the value of a clone. Doing an "in between" car like this is REALLY taking chances that the perceived "added value" will be missing in any perspective buyers in the future.

on one of the recent VinWiki vids, they did a hoovie episode and the comments section was eye opening.

Massive amounts of people were talking about their personal experiences and how shady he really is.

i joined in and added our exp with him here,i was polite and simply related how he acted,
and within a Day,all those stories and comments were Wiped out by the vinwiki crew.....yeah.

this is why social media sucks, because it doesnt portray all the details, just the ones they Want you to see.
literally the elephant in the room.

imo,the only time hoovie was remotely interesting was when him,Tav,and Ed were doing the imitation grand tour vids.
those were fun,esp watching tav sail off the race track curve thru the air in a supercar.
and i usually rooted for tav, even tho he always picked bad cars.

Not a bad purchase. Maybe I should start looking at repo hellcats?

Yeah, that looks bad. Seems to be a pattern for him.
