I,m by my self and I,m not getting fuel in my gas filter up by the carb.I have gas, sent air down the fuel line to see if plugged but no.Took pump off and seems to work by hand, sucks ,blow air through there when pump is open and no air goes through when closed.

get a new fuel pump.. if you have fuel before the pump and the line from the pump to carb is not plugged then pump is shot ..unless you camshaft is broke

If you have a vaccum gauge, put the pump in a vice and hook the gauge to the inlet, pump it up and see how much vacuum it pulls and if it holds.

one of my brothers went through this for a few weeks, blew air through his lines, primed it, new filters, etc etc, tried a new pump and like magic it worked

IMO - they're cheap enough to gamble on just buying one and trying it out

What I do is put the carb supply line in a jar and crank the engine. It should have a pretty good gush of fuel at every stroke and if not check the fuel pump push rod length.

I had a hole in my fuel line and no gas came up, put a plug in the carb end of fuel line, have someone crank it over and see if there is a hole in fuel line, make sure you turn a hose clamp on plug, and turn engine over for just a second

Did you get it figured out?

Not yet, bought a new fuel pump and ran line into jerry can and into a pop bottle but nothing ,I am getting some suction but not enough .I might take pump out and stick something in side and turn engine over by handand see if I get much movement on the cam lobe and go from there

try a new holley fuel pump around 120.00 and just take the manual fuel pump off, pull the rod out and block it off, they have a holley fuel pump that pumps 7 a minute, so you don't need a regulator, try this, because, I bet you have this moneys into it already, see if you can get your moneys back for the stuff you baught to try the manual way to buy the electric way, :hello2::icon_bounce:

well you are either getting air from a leak in a line or have a wasted cam eccentric for the fuel pump finger...also make sure the rod isn't seized or seizing in the block (ive seen guys cram em in there)...which will again get to the cam fuel lobe....another thought to....how much fuel is in the tank and what kind of repairs have been made to the tank..sending unit seal in good shape? sometimes the diaphragm can tear in the fuel pump...also is the fuel pump rod/finger the correct length and has this rod worked in the car/engine before? check the rod for damage and slide it by hand...there is a proper depth measurement for the rod i just don't have it handy...rb/b? la?

well I put a new pump in and still didn,t start but pump works with gerry can to carb.I crawled under gy gas tank and the the rubber fuel line from tank to line is about 8 inchs long and does a cork screw figure into the line so the rubber line is going down ,then up and over then down into fuel line.So I,m thinking it is trying to go but when I stop the starter the fule is getting syphoned back into tank.I will shorten it and see if this helps

My first car i had bought in 80 was doing this and it was the rubber line from the tank to the main fuel line it was sucking air . if it has any dry rot in it thats more than likely what it is, mine was a 69 coronet

Your right as rain, bought new host and made it shorter to get rid of the corkscrew twist and there was a crack in the old line, runs now
