Alright I tried searching all over this forum and nobody actually get into how you rebuild these suckers. I even found an article about the "simplicity" of rebuilding the pump in Mopar Muscle Mag but yet they never actually describe any of it.

In my FSM it tells me to remove the oil seal with a special tool C-4062 but nobody has said anything about needing any special tools other than the pulley puller. How do you do this?

Any light shedding would be much appreciated.

The factory manual usually called for special tools to remove seals etc but most seals can be removed with other tools. There's not much to a pump and what you will most likely be doing is just replacing seals and o-rings. IIRC, the pump reservoir has a square ring to seal it to the pump. The pump is a sliding vane design and if it's been pumping trash, it'll most likely be trashed.

I did it, having never done it before, using nothing but the instructions that came with the seal kit. It' s just a bunch of reals and o-rings. Easy.

Just pay attention when taking it apart and put it back together the same way--especially note the oreintation of the sliding vanes.

My problem is getting that metal/rubber oil seal that surrounds the pully shaft off. I tried to pry it out with a screwdriver but it doesn't seem to want to pop out it is just bending the metal and now it is starting to tear.

Nobody? Maybe I can just take it somewhere and they will have something that can pop it out.

Been awhile since doing one but iirc, I mutilated the seal getting it out in mine too. Is your pump already apart and the shaft out?

No. According to the Factory Service Manual it says to remove the oil seal first. I know these things are probably written like Air Force Technical Orders so the easiest way may not be the way written.

Is there an easier way to do it?
