How to ruin your weekend.......

Well, from what I was told, she (the owner) was pulling out of the gas station yesterday afternoon & she must have misjudged the lanes & started driving in a left turn lane, making her come nose to nose (so to speak) with a Mercedes SUV. I guess you could say that it was totally her faul, but I sure hope that she had some decent insurance on the car; being a Superbird, that's going to be very, very expensive.

If anyone knows of any Superbird parts for sale, please drop me a pm.

Thanks. RC

oh Chit !! is the 1st thing that come to mind, what a shame...

If that were my Bird, I would have needed that ambulance for my coronary. Glad she's ok, but what a shame.

I hope the emergency vehicles in the background weren't because of the same crash.

Best wishes for your friend...

("crying") accidents will happen, and sometimes, to the most unexpected cars. fast and speedy recovery to you both!

At least those have plenty of crumple zone.

Man, that sucks and painful to look at. Sounds like the low speed incident left everyone in good shape physically, which is good, but like you said the pocket book will take a beating. I'll ask around my neck of the woods to see what someone might have stashed.

That's beyond f'ed up. But, its not the first time nor will it be the last. I always worry about stuff like this.

Yeah, me too. I sold a couple of really nice cars a few years ago and kept my 66 Belvedere 2dr post which was a driver. I wasn't driving the other two very much anymore so that was kinda one of the reasons for selling. I really enjoy driving something that doesn't attract so much attention but the Belvedere still attracts some....

Ouch!! Didn't those cars come with shoulder belts and disc brakes? Also, brakes are only as good as your tires....

Yes they did !!

After seeing that i feel ill!

cars can b fixed .... The main thing is everyone is okay
get it repaired and start doing burnouts again!

Sorry to see this but it can be fixed. Don't let insurance total it or you will end up with a salvage title. Glad nobody was hurt.

I agree with you Cranky. Stuff like this is part of the reason that I sold my 62 Corvette awhile ago. If I drove the car anywhere, I had to stay around the car and guard it from the eventual idiot that would f#ck with it. Plus it was probably about as safe as riding a motorcycle without a helmet if you got into an accident. The average driver now is worse than ever because they they are distracted (cell phones etc.) and think that they are bulletproof (Volvo syndrome). I feel much safer in the old Belvedere.

Sonny says; that really sucks....

I would be looking for a building to jump off of...:faint:

BTW; Happy Labor Day everyone!:eek:ccasion16:

P.S. one cast fishing this A.M. ......23in bass:icon_silent:...then I quit!

I generally don't post here and can say I'm sad to see the results. No one sicker than the driver (owner?).
hindsight is 20/20 they say. This incident sheds light on several issues.
The vehicle can be repaired, but
op didn't mention if the driver is the owner
Busy holiday weekend
Congested urban area
Unfamiliarity of surroundings? distractions?
Expensive car with hard to find parts
choose wisely and be aware of the risks each time we drive a collector/classic.

I am aware of and accept risks. These cars were meant to be driven. Enjoyed. Drive with care and carry enough insurance.

I, too, drive my car at specific times that, to me, minimize the risk. Insurance coverage may, or may not allow for "casual driving". Let's hope the owner of the 'bird has coverage that allows them (and spouse?) to drive the car.
Seeing the ambulance makes me think someone "took a ride" to the er. An attorney friend told me to beware when a minor incident occurs when a person in the hit car takes the er route. May likely end up with additional claims or a suit.
I would not be surprised if a citation is written on the 'bird driver which compounds the potential for insurance coverage (current and future).
Bottom line, very nauseating for various reasons.
