Thanks All for the warm Welcome from points North, South, East and West in the USA, Mexico, Australia and beyond - we all speak the same lingo, just like that guy that rolls past your place on a Saturday arvo in an old Mopar when you're standing around having a beer with a few buddies car's already parked up, and then everyone's heads snap around at the sound of what's coming up the road. Even if it's a Chevy or a Henry, you have a quick look eh?

I can actually recall being a 17 year old Apprentice Electrician and being taking for a run in his poo brown 440 69 Charger back in the late 1980's, first lefty I'd ever been in too at the stage.
Probably that was something that eventually resonated enough to want to own one...since I only had what you guys call a Plymouth Cricket at that stage being on apprentice wages...

Hello Mate - small world eh, Haha, good work!
I'd forgotten all about that pic, I'm guessing the vacuum line had cracked and the headlight doors were staying open, deffo prefer it in stealth mode.
You going to Beach Hop in a couple of weeks?
I took the blue car down to the last one in November and went over the hill to a wedding in Tauranga on the Saturday, then back to the Hop, clocked in 400 miles all up - ran like a train.

Probably this thread will slowly turn into a Greatest Hits of old car pics of mine, and yes, some of the Aussie Valiants get a look in too!
Cheers

Can't make it to the Beach Hop this year. I am going to a Mopar run from Hampton Downs through to Pukekohe in a few weeks. Have the truck all running nice now, and ready to lay rubber. Speaking of which, I am also entered in the JAR 10th Annual Poker Run on the 18th of April.....planning on getting some footage together on that one. :D
I am also pleased that I did leave at least something of an impression upon you in your youth... When I took Dave Hemmingson for a skid one morning in my '70 RR, we both nearly crapped ourselves ....I miss that car. :steering:

Keep in touch buddy....BTW I am still based out of JAR E/T. :D

Welcome from the central coast of Cali. Some years ago I talked to one of your homies at Laguna Seca raceway. He was there working on one of Bruce's cars, Bruce McLaren that is. He said he travels around in the states for who owns that car and in his off time he rustles up cars and parts to take/send back to N.Z.

Welcome aboard from Ohio.

Hi there, Yip, there's a pretty active car and hot rod scene here for a small population, there's a few Kiwi's I know of that have made a go out of finding and shipping cars back here, willing seller/willing buyer, make a little margin on it and everybody wins.

Ahh, Bryan and the Northern Mopar crowd, he's got that jacked up black 71 340 Charger, fairly sharp car. I went on their Matakana Run last year, good turnout and good bunch of people too, plenty of Vals and American rides.

I believe the guy you were talking to, is the guy who painted my GTX.

Here's another picture of that sweet Charger.... (courtesy of local magazine)

Cool. As I remember, it was a blue? M6 or M8. It was there for the historic event. CanAm was one of the classes.
I'll be seeing the guy in a week or two....I'll see if he has some pics of it.
