Human remains found today in car at pipeline blowout about 2 miles miles from me with flame at least 300 feet high.

Last couple of years in this area have been several degrees above normal in the summer time but back in 21, it was WAY below normal in the dead of winter. Don't like anything above 95 and anything below 30! I can work around 100 but anything much more than that is most unwelcome and anything in the teens is also most unwelcome lol
I remember running to Houston, getting a room so I had a hot shower and a good night's sleep, then coming out to my truck at 5am finding it dripping wet from the humidity...

My company office was in the Spring area... used to go over to the SoCal Speedshop dealer and drool over his collection of 32-34 hot rod Fords... must have had 30 of them all parked in their own stall in his shop.

I was building a '34 chassis from scratch back then (2004-2006) and bought a bunch of chassis parts from him. Went on a couple cruises in his cars....night time deals in the summer since some folks didn't have a/c in their rides.

I hauled a fair amount of oil rig drill rod out of Houston plus some imported brass and other products.

Florida Power and Light converted their large Port Everglades 4 Unit plus many short-term Turbine power plant units to natural Gas 40+ years ago. They installed a high-pressure supply 18" pipeline on the easement of the Florida Turnpike for a nearly 75 miles in South Florida. Every so often the pipeline comes above ground for connections, valves, monitoring etc. It is less than 75' from the 6 lanes of traffic. 20? years ago they installed standard single guard rails to "protect" the pipeline, that Imo an out-of-control car at speed would penetrate without much effort and forget what a PU or truck would do. I am rather surprised it has yet to happen.

Was just about to post it as I just heard about it. Seems to be that the only thing witnesses got right was that the driver was wearing glasses....
Many years ago I attended a forensics seminar conducted by a prominent coroner. He reviewed a case where the decedent was shotgunned in a crowded bar, and described the scenario as an extremely professional execution, orchestrated by organized crime. He explained that the most effective approach to avoiding witness issues was to have either none, or a great many. Multiple witnesses would never come up with a useful ID of the perp.

It's like having 4 witnesses standing at 4 different corners at an intersection where they saw a crash happen. All 4 will have a different view and have a different explanation of what happened....

At my father's gas station when I was 10, I saw the driver and the passenger switch seats post-accident. I told my father, and he said I needed to tell the officer on the scene.
I did and I had to testify in court, and the real driver was convicted. I was the only witness.

In 98 a drunk jerk flew down the street and ran the stop sign at the main road, broadsided a car with a family in it. There were 6 in the car.....5 adults and a baby. The baby survived but the drunk driver of a new Dodge pickup tried to get his wife to say she was driving but there were too many witnesses including me that all said no to that mess....besides, his wife pretty much told him to F off. The drunk even killed his 5 year old boy who was riding in the back of the pickup. Now what fool does crap like that. Well, drunk ones. I'm surprised his wife even got into the truck with the jerk. I was supposed to testify but my dad passed away on the day of court.....the prosecutor said no problem as they were sure they had enough to put him away for a long time and they did.
