I don't own a B body but I have the engine and transmission in my car

Welcome :)

I personally would love to drop in a hemi in my 72 cutlass.
Would be best of both worlds. :)

different car

welcome to FBBO

My 1964 Bristol 408 has its original 1962? 727 pushbutton transmission and a transplanted Chrysler 360. The car originally had a Chrysler Canada 313, I think. The current engine is supposedly from a 1978 Dodge Monaco and has a Summit Racing 4 barrel and electronic ignition fitted.

I am joining as I expect to need help on this engine from time to time. I am about to go post my first questions!

Then that dosent count lol

How do u figure that? Kim

On the 72 cutlass (gm a body) i like the fact that its full frame and appears to have more working room / easier to reach things under the hood.
I know it also was one of the best handling cars of its class back in the days. (As 442)

On the 69 charger (chrysler b and e body) i like the availability of the 426 hemi which is without a doubt the best engine of the time (being able to take so much power and being so durable)
So by dropping in a 426 hemi in my 72 cutlass and also upgrading brakes, suspension/steering & stuff i think i would end up with a pretty nice car. ( That probably mopar and gm guys both would hate :D )

On the other hand there are also aftermarkt full frame chassis for mopar b bodys available (schwartz performance)
And its not such a pain in the butt to change the spark plugs or open the rear end diff in a hemi car. :)

Its just i already have the 72 cutlass (which was my first car) and at some point i will throw in a bigger engine.
Because with the Olds "Rocket" 350 you wont win any races (except against ricers). :D

It is kinda fun I put a 440 in my 88 camaro was an easier swap than expected. Welcome from sw Florida.

Welcome aboard, great looking car:thumbsup:

Welcome aboard from Ohio.

Thanks. Just to clarify: Bristol Car company started using Chrysler V8s and transmissions in the early 60s. They imported them into the UK from Chrysler Canada. My car was built with a 313. I don't know what happened to the original engine but in 1992 the car was imported into the US engineless and a shop fitted a 360 taken from a '78 Monaco.
