I don't want to go to work tomorrow.

I am enjoying the time off. The only work my last company had was out of town and I am DONE with that sort of thing.
I am at the point where I could either retire and collect the pension or wait until there is some local work. It is a pretty good place to be.

Well I don't want to go to work tomorrow even if I could.
The place nearly burned up and most everything around did.
I will most likely return to the area late next week depending upon when the infrastructure is back on line at the house. The area has no elec./water/gas.

Stay strong. The work you will do tomorrow is all you have in front of you. Rebuild your nest as a task for tomorrow.

I don't mind going to work this week, next week 5000' sq. ft. of dock to remove from the lake. about 45 20' sections to tow in and stack, about 150 1" bolts, nylon grommets, washers, 30 chains to remove!
week after 42 cottages to winterize, about 1/2 are 2 story with 3 bathrooms, crawl underneath them all to drain and lots of stairs to carry pump and shopvac. up and down. 400ltrs.
nontox to distribute
I'm getting to old for this ****, but I don't trust anyone else to do it!
GET YOUR MIND RIGHT LUKE!

This is the mantra of the question. Is it about wanting to teach the newbies and at the same time brushing them aside as being irritants?
My working life has been about dealing with this.--(I know what to do and get out of my way). I regret that.
I retired about the same time that I would have been squashed by those that followed me.

Lord knows, I'm not judging or preaching here at all...
It's so very important for us to be necessary, to have purpose, to be wanted.
Those of you in that boat - count your blessings.

I've just had half a year of not having that. It'll rot yer noggin.

There are days when I wake up at 10, 10:30 or 11:00 and don't have any specific thing to do that day.
It can be a bit spooky, not having a purpose or simply not being motivated to do any one of the 100 tasks that need attention.
Cold weather days and cloudy skies are the worst. I can deal with rain but days at 45 degrees or colder just squash my motivation.
I have several car projects ongoing, parts to clean, stuff to organize, yards to maintain, stuff needing work in and out of the house too.
Spring and fall are great for that. Reasonable weather and a decent amount of daylight time.

& you want to move back east,
where ?
(it is nice & green)
But;
all that damn rain is 1/2 the year 150+ (to 180) days min.
& all that damn humidity to boot
all 'them damn bugs'
or worse in some areas

then there's the snow
most all of the east/north above about South Carolina
( all the population back there, 75% live east of the Miss.)
especially when you go inland
anywhere near a mountain or 1/2 way up
(what some call the south, it ain't south)
& better stay in the real south (& not Florida)
even in the real south, that's select areas too
if you don't like the weather
leftovers from hurricanes or tornados, stifling humidity etc. etc. etc.

don't like the weather wait 45 min.'s it will change

I have been here most of my life. I do like the green grass and shrubbery. Late Winter through early Summer, it is that way here. The other 7-8 months looks like a bad drought. I may find that the year round green makes up for the rain. As I wrote, I can deal with rain. I can work in colder weather too, I just don't prefer it to be that cold. I know, you can bundle up and deal with it. I've started wearing work gloves more this year so maybe colder weather won't be so bad. The only way to know if I can handle the humidity is to visit the places for myself.

You at least got the snow part right, the rest not so much at least in Ohio, WV, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, etc. Population, bugs and rain though???

Missouri, on the Mississippi, all that damn humidity to boot, sometimes. The rest , not so much, including snow. I'd be in jail if I lived in California, give it to Mexico. I don't think the same way they do and I hate being out numbered by people that have no common sense.

the green and white is nice, but I've got more hrs. in the seat of a lawn mower and snowblower than most people have in a car!

As I have said before, those of you who want to move away from whatever hell hole you currently live in can do a lot worse than to live in Vermont. I understand the supposed drawbacks. Like snow, Liberals, high taxes, Liberals...lol. Everywhere has drawbacks of some sort. For myself, the Liberals here, while thick as ticks in the woods, don't impact me all that much in my daily life. Snow is just another season. No reason to fear it. The stuff we don't have far outweighs the stuff we do. We don't have a high population number, just 603,000 in the entire state. We don't have very many people who are not of white ethnicity, 98.8% white population. We don't have crappy roads, billboards, urban sprawl, trash along the roadsides, people inserting themselves into your business, unduly hot weather, high humidity, tons of rain, protesters, big cities, crappy cars on the roads because of a lax inspection policy, inspection policies that are draconian and senseless, tons of government regulation, anti gun laws ( open carry is cool), an over abundance of police presence, zillion acre forest fires, insano government, Hurricanes and tornadoes, earthquakes and tsunamis. I can go on but this picture really says it all....it's not in some closed State park or private reserve...it's a half mile up the same road I live on. Just imagine being able to drive/walk/jog through such scenery daily. lol. It's worth it.....trust me.

I like to think I did a lot of teaching by example. I never worried about being let go because I always put out 110%. Then in later years I was proud that 4 guys I was in charge of went on to supervision at a higher level than me.
