After last year, the track management said one more time and you're out.
So i had to get this. I hated to put it on because it added weight, and added a new set of J bars to finish off the rollcage, nice and tucked in.
150+ MPH
You probably scared the tech crew with having the 8. on the back glass. Not sure if Depello runs a chute in his 64 Plymouth s/s car or not. It runs 8.80's with stock carbs and a four speed, and a 426. You should run way deep in the 8's with your combo. Keep us updated !
I was told by Atco and Lebanon Valley last year, faster than 150 mph and you have to have a chute installed. I was told by both tracks to not go over 150 mph again w/o a chute installed.
You don't have to pull it but it needs to be there. In case of an accident, if you go over 150 w/o a chute its the tracks fault. If you crash and don't pull the chute, the track is cleared of any liability.
When I was with a Super Comp team, we switched the parachutes to a bright pink one when the driver wasn't around. He has to jump out of the rail at the other end to gather it up. Man the look on his face when he got back!
With my Arrow I didn't get over 150, only 148. No chute, but Lamb 4 wheel disc's. Never an issue, even on fairly short shut down tracks. But that was a fairly lite car. Love to hear what that feels like when you first pop the chute.
