I need some Tips, Trick's, Do's and Dont's

Im wanting to pull my dash out of my 73 RR this weekend and was wondering if anybody has any good info on getting this done without too much of a headache.

Reason for doing this is when im driving down the road I have all kinds of stuff flying out of the vents and I need to give her a deep cleaning and do some touch up painting.

Also my windshield is all "foggy" at the bottom due to heater core steam, can that be removed?

From what others have said about the removal, its pretty easy. As far as the windshield goes: is it foggy on this inside of the glass (Between the two halves of glass) or on the outside (inside of car)? I would say that if its foggy in between the two halves of glass that the windshield is starting to de-laminate .

I will be doing the dash removal in my 72 charger soon so I'm also going to watch n see what others have to say about this topic. As far as I understand the dash can be removed without taking the windshield out. Hope I'm right.

Thanks brother! Im not sure where its at on the windshield definately on the inside but I guess it could be between the sheets. I will know more when it get that dash out so I can have some room to scrub.

I cant play on the interstate yet, no tags or insurance at this time. I mostly play on the backroads for the time being. Wont be long till though.......

your vent ducts (quack quack) are filled with leaves and whatnot right ?? this can be done without removing anything...use a shop-vac that blows 150 MPH and shove it in the ducts. the debris will find its way out....then vac it up.....did this on my Road Runner....but heres some DO's and DONTS :

DO...
be nice to animals
respect your elders
keep a close eye on your significant other...chances are she is up to no good !
look both ways before crossing the street
peel your banana before eating it
use the right tool for the right job
wax your car periodically

DONT.....

play with your food..unless its not quite dead yet
stick your tongue in a rotating fan or a blender
play with fire.....unless you have no feeling in your hands, then its ok
trust ANYTHING that has wheels or t&*ts, if it has either or both of these, it will give you problems
assume anything, it makes an *** out of U and ME
put your cat on the grill.....not unless he asks you to
aim a loaded weapon at anyone...unless its your X ...then the law will understand this to the fullest extent .

That's some funny #%& right there. I've never pulled the dash out of a 73 but these old cars are really simple to work on, you won't have any problems. Drain the antifreeze, drop the column and unhook the battery and dig in just, keep track of where everything went even the fasteners. good luck.

Got it pulled out, didn't find anything cool. It was a challenge for sure. I can't up load a pic from my phone for some reason. I get some on here tomorrow. My build sheet was between the seat foam and springs its all tore up so I left it there. Rich

Did some deep cleaning and its turned out really nice. Im planning on installing it today when I get off work.
