i Thought I Would Give Graveyard Carz Another Try

my wife leaves the room when I watch it she cant stand worman..perhaps that is why I am enjoying watching the show now..ahh the peace and quiet

Opinions vary vastly it seems... It seems the very people that love it & kiss up-to head stooge Mark Worman on forums & Facebook {he reminds me of Moe}, are just as passionate about the show & about b-t-hing, complaining, whining & gripping about the people, that dislike all the BS & Grab a$$ stuff, in a car show about our beloved MoPars, that's the subject matter or most here wouldn't even watch it in the 1st place... I call it constructive criticisms & not complaining, b-t-hing or whining about the show... DVR it... I'd like to see it work... I know I wouldn't even watch, if it wasn't for the miniscule MoPar content... I refuse to build on that already overinflated & huge narcissist ego thou, myself... My $0.02 cent

Really? Now THAT is an interesting statement! Like why and how is he in "constant contact" with you?

Because I own the 70 Hemi Charger he is restoring........that's why!!!!!!

there is no way that they are doing the serious work on these cars they are just there for our amusement..

That is exactly my impression as well - those buffoons have nothing to do with the working garage, and never have.

Really? He started the business in 85 or something like that. He can do the work and im sure he busted his *** to get to where he is. He payed his dues and now he hires other people to do the sheet metal work. The guys on the show do the documenting, disassemble and assemble. so i dont know how you can say he has nothing to do with a working garage and never has?

I was referring to the other knuckleheads he has on the show. No doubt mark runs the real garage, the guy's a master. The other guys, (I think one is his brother in law?) just do too good of a job acting worthless to be anything but.

Hemi*Guy, I annotated on page 2 my realization that you're paying the GYC crew to restore your 70 Hemi Charger, it's the Red one right? Has Mark got you to do a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) on your car, costs, and 'story'? If not, what's your tab at, monthly invoicing, detailed invoicing, are there agreed upon budgets, or as much as possible? I ask from a professional perspective, not a warrentless question(s).

I take the crews messing around with a grain of salt as the actual work and information is top notch. It pains me to see Gas Monkey take cars from the area I live in, mess the cars up and then people buy the marked up cars. A show that really shows what it takes to rebuild cars right and does not have drama is Reality Rides on Velocity showing Sunday mornings right now. You can see some of the episodes at their website http://carlscustomcars.com/reality-rides-series/
This show is also from my area and redeems almost all that GM trashes.

Oh, my bad. Yeah, Josh (aka long turd) is his son in law and father of his grand child. I feel he is hard on him because he is grooming him to take over the business. I dont think josh realizes what opportunity he has here. Royal is ok. Soft spoken guy who is older and been turning wrenches his whole life and now gets to take it easy a bit. Darren. Supposedly knowledgeable but nothing he has done seems like its with his hands. Mostly knows what any body can garner from a book or magazine. Is it an act? I dont know. Is he a financial partner in the business? And thats why he is there? I dont know. If him being an asshole is an act then hand that man an Oscar.

I look at it this way... if the show weren't focused on Mopars, would I watch it? I watch a lot of non-Mopar shows like Fast & Loud and Wheeler Dealers, but after GYC my next most-hated show is that FantomWorks show because the owner of that shop just rubs me the wrong way too. I have a tough time getting through Chasing Classic Cars because Carini comes off as such a snob, but I do like the way he deals with people who are looking at getting rid of their cars and the way he explains the market to them, which makes up for his constant trips to Pebble Beach or Fernandina or whatever concourse event is next on the champagne schedule. :)

So for me, I would have zero interest in GYC if not for the Mopars, and I've been around enough Mopars to not want to waste an hour of my life watching that show.

Mark looks at the car and then gives you a time frame and a not to exceed price. In most cases it is a 3 year restoration (which usually is done earlier). The reason for that duration is that he wanted my car for season 3 and season 4 and since they only shoot for a certain part of the year ,he wants to give himself enough time. As for the cost I'm not at liberty to say, but what I can say is my car is basically getting a nut and bolt restoration as close to OE specs as possible for less than it would cost me to buy a 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8.

Guy

There was a segment a couple episodes ago that showed Royal dropping out the rear end & springs out of the 67 Hemi GTX conv. Once the rear end was out, Mark entered the scene and screamed at him that he wanted the exhaust taken out before anything else was taken out. However, the next scene showed them taking out the complete exhaust in one piece. I wonder how Mark thought the exhaust was going to come out in one piece with the rear end in place?

FantomWorks guys is about the most genuine of all the car show guy/leaders I've seen! His costs and prices are real. And Guy, that's not a bad price if hes doing it for about 55k, that's really good!

Them HOLLYWOOD garages... there's a reason they all have broken noses... I'd last about 1/2 way through the first head fit and stab someone with a screwdriver... or chase him with a can of carb cleaner and a lighter.

I watched a couple more episodes and I just cannot deal with this show. Why wouldn't Mark fire darren after he called a customer. Not to mention all the crap Darren gave Mark about the Torino collection and the guys name etc. Just too much for me. I would rather watch Fast and Loud or West coast customs or Americarna etc.

I look at it this way, all of these shows have good points and bad if your a gear head. BUT these shows are helping keep our hobby alive by keeping the interest in classic cars.
As far as GYC, yha there sense of humor doesn't do it for me but I like the show. First off it's a all Mopar show... When did we ever think we would see a show on TV that was all about Mopars???
Second, I have to be honest, I've learned a few things, Mark does a great job explaining what he's doing and why he uses a specific product.... some of it is basic but sometimes I find my self saying "ahh I see how they do that".
Then there are the times like the windage tray where he was completely wrong.

But as far as these gearhead shows like Fast and Loud, Counts Customs, Street Outlaws, Americarna, etc etc are all great for the hobby. I wish the fellow gear heads would quit bashing the shows. I never heard motorcycle guys bitch about Orange Co. Choppers, Lord knows there was drama inserted into that show.

IDK, I was into bikes when OCC was popular.

After about 3 episodes I stopped watching.

Partly because I thought the builds were a bit caricature-ish for my tastes, but also because there was too much father versus son drama.

Seriously, all bs aside, there is no other show on tv that features full on concourse restorations that I know of. Every show out there is is either hack jobs or custom something or another and they pretty much all have ridiculous deadlines. I just watched them finish the daytona and go for a ride. That car is amazing. Simply amazing. It makes me want my car done so bad now. True inspiration. Im kinda sad the season is over already
