I love the forums because there is really a lot of good information out there. The one thing I dislike is that everyone on the internet is an expert. People have done things one way for years in some cases and are closed off to new ideas or approaches. I like to try to learn from anyone that has been successful at whatever they are doing. Sometimes going faster or being more reliable means adopting things from very successful people. I get into it every once in a while with the Carb vs. EFI discussions. So I will apologize in advance for that. It is something I am passionate about. I often feel like I get the brush off from folks as that EFI guy. I will tell you what though, if carbs were the cats meow we would still be running them. Now its hydraulic roller cams, EFI, and coil on plug ignitions on everything new. Its more accurate, more reliable, gets better mileage and makes more power consistently. So if I engage in a spirited debate about it please forgive me, just like the carb guys are passionate about carbs because thats what they know......I am passionate about EFI. Oh and BTW, I built my first big block mopar at 15 and that was more years ago than I care to admit

LXModguy the two issues with Fuel injection is a safe fuel supply to the Injectors. Second is changing to hi vacuum cams. FOr me I have a Roller Motor 472 Hemi. I would love to go fuel injection, but it is complicated and still too expensive. I see a few new vendors cropping up. But I dontl ike the idea of putting a can of gas in the front of the car. This is the pressure feed vessel and if you get hit in the front your going to burn.

I've been doing this since 1975. First 2 racecars i got dipped in to the high 11's back in 1976. Not bad for back in the day.
I've been through almost every possible hurdle and have over come them to go as fast as 8.57@161 mph in a 3387 lb. Naturally aspirated B body.
3 of the 4 cars are all 8 second cars and 1 in the high 9 second zone. There's a reason for that, or else it would be alot faster.
Unfortunately there are a few wise asses who like to poke the bear constantly.
But unfortunately they always come out unscathed.
So alot of information does not get revealed due to the bashing.
And as you can see the Racers hangout is just about dead because of it.
So carry on and hopefully the mod see's really what's going on.

I find this site to be one of the better forums I've been on. You'll have arguments regardless of where you go. It'd be nice if they could be kept above 3rd grade level, but that's usually par for the course unfortunately lol.

Oh, and I'm one of those guys that loves EFI I have run (and am still running) my fair share of carbs, but efi has so much more range of adjustment. I like being able to sit in the car and adjust the fueling with a mouse or button, without having to remove fuel bowls over a hot engine

I think FBBO is the best of the Mopar sites. I have learned a lot and received some great advise. I like to help others if I can and I will share my experiences if appropriate. I don't mind a lively "debate" unless it turns ugly. The more you read the more it becomes easy to recognize members that are credible. I keep in mind that a percentage of members that share their information are talking about their own personal experiences and it's highly possible to have similar experiences with different results. It's good to hear all possibilities.
If I had one complaint, it would be about follow up. Sometimes I might follow a thread because I'm experiencing a similar problem or just want to learn something. Then, once in a while, the thread just ends without the results being posted. Drives me crazy.

I still feel that this is the best site for info and I DO learn something from this site almost everyday.Sometimes life gets in the way and we have to step away from the track for months or even years. I was a avid racer in the 70's but gave it up for 20 years to have a family and career.In the 90's came the divorce,,the ex gave me some good advise,,"You should go out and do something just for you".Back to the track for me and man I had allot of new stuff to learn.Around 2000 I got my first computer.A total caveman,it took a few years to find all of this great information,,,and how to type too.Right now I am without a car that is complete but in the process of building one. I check this site everyday,,My thanks to all of you !!

I'm not understanding your comment Bob.
This is precisely how threads take a turn from their intended target.
It's really a shame that some racers try to share info and then get ridiculed. It's not a perfect world so I take the info and use what I can to make my racing experience better. Your results may vary.
I've got lots of info to share and do from time to time. Hopefully it helps someone.

I inherited my father's passion for Mopar (and one of his cars) but I did not inherit his mechanical abilities. Being in business for myself I have very little time and/or money. This site allows me to learn and at least feel somewhat mechanical at times. I personally don't know any of you all but I respect the hell out of you. Your knowledge and recommendations keeps my interest in this hobby at an all time high (and the pictures are cool too). Plus my wife likes listening to some post from the forum. This is a bonus. Great forum and I can't wait for the next chapter.

I thought I could have some cheap fun with a 86 turbo z daytona and joined the turbo dodge forum.The only guy there that will give you the time of day is aguy named NAJ,and he is awesome but the rest of the site is a real let down.Placing or changing an ad is a nite mare.Disappointed to a point that the turbo car is for sale, and I bought my 62 and joined fbbo and it's been awesome!People seem to appreciate your input and really try to help.

TD has sucked for a while now, get on turbo-mopar.com instead. That's where all the good people from turbododge went ;) Or you can ask me any questions you want about the Turbo Z, if you still want to play with it. I have extensive experience with the fwd turbo cars

I've learned an awful lot on this site and feel fortunate to have found just bouncing around on the net. It seems as though really knowledgeable people jump in and give advice to us less experienced guys.
The support I got while restoring my car always seemed to lead me in the right direction. Not that the car is finished and I'm working out the kinks I've received a lot of trouble shooting support.

I just ignore the sometimes petty arguments some folks like to engage - I do find it entertaining on occasion. I read a lot, help when I can, and inhale as much of the knowledge as possible.

I get what you say. I figured if I did it right it would cost 3200.00 which would include a single plane manifold drilled for Injectors, a rail system, stainless hard lines to and from the tank. An in tank aeromotive fuel pump, controller and accessories. A Throttle body is just a valve with a resistor. So I want it just think at 2K It would be worth the conversion. Since carbs are becoming dinos i know it will run better just cant get over the 3200.00

A member asked if others reserved Gold membership just for FABO or spread the love to Joey's other sites.
It did go off track (not my initial doing but I helped lol) but it had a few good comments about what A Body owners think of FBBO.

I agree this place rocks, best forum on the -www-

We do have only a rare "select few" {& all their known aliases}
that seemingly need to argue constantly, just stir the pot, hold back info,
pick fights needlessly, don't divulge ET's/MPH, combos, needed/useful information
seems you have to pry it out of them constantly etc.
Most of them, I just ignore now too...
I must admit I did get a few chuckles at their expense,
out of the $$$ spent, going thru engine builder like I go thru underwear
vs the lack luster performance & bragging thou...

This is a great site. I've tried share to others what I learned as bracket racer for nearly 20 years. I also know the difference between me as an un-professional and those that spend their lives doing the professional work. I can assemble a motor, but a professional will produce a better product.
