Never said anything about your car being stolen, I said the vin from your car and it's obviously not worth arguing with you about.

Agree. There's very little upside to faking VINs on garden variety cars that still exist. Rebody kits (tags, VIN plates, titles, etc) from parted cars are available all the time on eBay. It takes far less effort and risk to rebody a car compared to duplicating an existing car.

Since VIN's have been available for the world to see since 68, I doubt that there is a legal expectation of privacy if someone wants to take a picture of it in a public place.

IF somone did have the time, skills and access to the correct data bases, like DMV, NCIC, insurance, bank loans, dealer records, and factory records, to trace the history of a car, a service like Megan wants to provide would be incredibly interesting and valuable. I'm not sure just anyone can have access to those data bases or if they even exist.

I'd like to know if you can find my build sheet somewhere. I already have all the history on the car since i'm the second owner. I know I'm the first one to disassemble the car and I found no build sheet. Could be they just plain forgot to put it in there , or it went into another car.

thousands of vin numbers in the found section with information about your car including hemi and six pack cars www.hamtramck-historical.com and snakeyes dont worry I am not going to spent the time and risk a prison sentence to counterfit your sweet 86' dodge aries.

not that many matt. anything can be counterfeited....even titles and vin numbers..anyone posting the FULL vin on an ad is just stupid.. i really dont trust anyone with my vin number.....ESPECIALLY A WOMAN....(nuthin personal Megan...but i dont trust none of ya):headbang: if something bad will happen concerning a woman...you can bet it will happen to me! ....LMAO !

:icon_axe:Hey now!!...be good...Marla

Yes, and yes. I don't think they were necessarily supposed to end up in the cars anyway - it was just a convenient place for the line workers to discard them when finished. I've heard of many that were in the wrong car.

she is legit guys she is my wife and here are some pics of my projects 70 six pack bee, 67 hemi coronet 78 lil red.Do all the checking you want, and snakeyes if you send me some pics of that K car you got and could work up a bid on restoring it for you haha

Had a 70 440 Challenger RT that was loaded up and kept one of the build sheets when I sold the car just for the hell of it but never looked at it until years later. It was for a /6 Challenger!

I'll send you a "test" vin on a MOPAR (parts car) that I own tomorrow. Then we can put it all to rest (and test). Game on!

I've already put in a request, haven't heard back yet but I'm in. Get back with me Me
Megan!
Thanks

Hi guys I have alot of request already so the whole test thing would be a waist of my time. This research takes up alot of time so please do not make me do alot of work for nothing. I am just trying have some fun and help some people, not looking to get rich or start my own chop shop. thanks

cloning

base on my experience as law enforcement on vin cloning the demand is more on new model vehicles for fast cash.they are easier and low profile.the car that most common are more like scalates, hummers, mercedes and high value ones. remember is a million out there.also they are in the streets and been sold and exported for insurance fraud. muscle car are red flag to fast and target by the hobbyist. In other world we talking possible a 1%. the criminals don't want to be spot it to fast!!! cloning has become a billion dollar business.

I had a guy back about 10 years ago e-mail me that he had vital information on my car and wanted me to divulge some personal information. After I refused I never heard from him again. Even e- mailing him several times on what he had. He said sales figures and purchase sheet of my car. I am not saying she is or isnt legit but people are weary out there for a reason.

At car shows I have seen plenty of people cover up the VIN and even remove the fender tag. One guy I spoke to at a recent car show said people are recording VIN's for the purpose of cloning cars but I can't verify this. OK, so what can you do with a VIN?

I know first hand that I was able to find a car I once owned but giving someone with access to this sort of info the VIN of the car. In short order I got the complete address. I of course had no ill intent and I never even drove by the house. My main objective was to see if it was still in the system.

If someone wanted to fake a HEMI car all they would have to do is add the 5th digit, some fender tag info, a few braces here and there and a good story as to why the important parts are missing. You can even buy the rosette rivets! Graphic artists are reproducing stickers that are dead on so in this world of CNC machining and CMM measuring why can't someone reproduce a set of VIN stamps?

The cars are getting harder to find in one piece but at least for now the demand is high, especially for many Europeans who are taking advantage of the low prices. Not saying it's a slam dunk but if you're going to sell a clone car seems to me outside of the US would be a good target. When it comes to MoPars many car people jumped on the bandwagon once MoPars became expensive (hence my signature line) and it might be safe to say a lot of these people don't have the experience or the trained eye to spot the details. Sure you can read about all the info, but nothing can replace 20-40 yrs of actually fondling car after car back when no one gave a crap about them. In the 80's I didn't have to look much farther than a badge to tell if I was buying a real 383 Road Runner for $500.00 - $2000.00.

As many have stated, I too don't mean any disrespect to the OP, but I'm not handing the VIN of my cars over to someone unless they have some official documentation stating they are legally allowed to do this type of research. Ford people have the "Marti report" and they are licensed by Ford http://www.martiauto.com/reports2.cfm so how can I believe that another car person like me has access to this kind of info? I'm sorry, but until I see more evidence of some official business I must call..... :bs_flag:

mm dont worry I dont have one ,to each his own

mm and fat lip resto , the question that most are asking is your reputation they no GG s they dont yours ,maybe you could be the next on the bar.jackson show MM report who no s, you should no you own a shop how easy it is to reproduce items and clone cars, if people would like to use your service let it be , most dont like giving to much info out ,just as most dont like showing there plate numbers, and I dont own a aspen .

I would be interested in how she is doing this or able to do this, I might feel a bit more confident if I knew how the information was being gotten. Here in Cal you have to put in a special request and pay a fee to get old records prior to 1980m or even earlier. The DMV will only give you the last two registration dates with no personal info of owners. I know I have done it.

That with some sleuthing and you can come up with owner info at least names. I tried to contact and re contact the last two owners with no success. To me it;s not worth the expense, my car is not #'s matching as far as the motor and to me it does not matter.
