Sometimes life throws us an unexpected curve ball that is near impossible to prepare for. During summer of 2016, while enjoying her time off from work, Suzanne Sanchez my sister took care of some routine lab work. Her test results came back abnormal, which raised concern with her doctor. A colonoscopy was scheduled. During Suzanne's exam a mass was found in her colon. The mass was biopsied and sent to the lab for testing. On July 13, 2016, after much anticipation, devastating news was delivered. The mass in her colon was in fact, cancer (Adenocarcinoma). Now instead of looking forward to spending her days at work, helping children feel better, she will be spending the next few months enduring many medical tests, major surgery on Friday, August 19, 2016, a week long stay in the hospital and 6+ weeks in recovery at home. Suzanne is 66 years old, she lives alone, leads a very healthy and active lifestyle. She has a huge heart with a passion for helping others, and an immeasurable love for animals. She is employed as a health services assistant, working with children. In her spare time she volunteers at her local animal shelter. During her treatment and recovery, Suzanne will be forced to take an extended amount of time off of work, without pay. Unfortunately her employer does not offer disability insurance nor the greatest of medical insurances. We are asking for your help in her time of dire need, financially, physically and spiritually. A GO FUND ME.com account under her name Suzanne Sanchez has been set up for monetary donations as well as meal train for help getting Suzanne fed during her recovery. Simple daily tasks will be extremely difficult under Kemo treatment for her to accomplish. I went with her to see the oncolgist to get the low down on the next 6 months. It's going to be rough for her but she is determined to get through it. Thank your for your time and your support. Please keep Suzanne in your thoughts and prayers. You are appreciated!
UPDATE
Cancer biopsies came back and lymph nodes were cancerous which means her cancer has progressed to stage 3B. Suzanne will be starting intense chemo twice a week for 6 months on October 4. Let's all pull together and get her through this. She will not be able to work during this time and lives alone. Every little bit helps so much. Thank you for all everyone has done so far! So much love and appreciation xo. Chris (Canyon707)

We'll keep her in our prayers Chris and pitch in.
Cancer sucks!!!!, everyone I know seems to be affected by it, my wife has non Hodgkins lymphoma, ( which from what we've been told is if you get cancer this is the best one to get....I guess) her best friend was just put on hospice after fighting breast cancer for the last 4 years.
34 yo, 2 girls the same age as mine, a doding father & husband. Shes a God loving person that still has nothing but positive things to say. Were having a benefit tomorrow to try and help them out. Same scenario, no insurance, Joey hasn't been able to work in almost a year trying to take care of her....

Chris you tell your sister that today her cancer can be beat. My wife had her third surgery this week and has battled colon cancer that metastasized Stage 4 for the last six years. If anyone knows what your sister is going through it would be my wife. Hopefully she will be coming home tomorrow but she is really beat up this time

I hope she beats it, also a speedy recovery...

Keep a positive attitude & keep fighting the good fight...

Thanks it's all new to this family. Again thanks

So sorry to hear this. My oldest brother was diagnosed with colon cancer three months ago. They gave him six months, maybe five years with keymo. I suspect it maybe sooner, hearing him tell me about his recent test results.

I'm never realized until now how many families, friends are affected by this. My son in law is heading up research for colon cancer at university of Seattle. He always had opinions about how important colon op after 50. The fecal test is a snowballs chance o hell of decting any cancer. I feel helpless.

I've had a number of friends survive the ugly c. Two just had colon cancer - stage 4. Both have survived after surgery now for 2-5 years with good prognosis. I have a colonoscopy every 5 years regardless. I hate to hear the stories of those that don't think they need to do the simple test of such and then get the bad news. God bless your friend and we will pray for her recovery in full - which is truly possible.
