If this is worth 110k then I am in the wrong business?!?!?

Pretty much what I did with my '63 Plymouth vert, dropping in more than it's best value as the earlier "B's" don't get that pop look the later 60's get; but like the fact I'm often the only guy at the shows with one. I have a personal history with this era Mopar thanks to my older cousin who won many races at the strips back in those days with his '64 Fury and Polara (while at one time I had a '70 Cuda drop top I'd sure like to have back)! And made several modifications from '62 to '68 Mopar parts with headrests, magnums, later rear, disk brakes, steering box, redone 318 to about 330HP, headers, 3" X, and on. I wanted the car to drive better than new and achieved it at a heady cost. Looking at the car from a distance all ya'd know is a slight rake and larger magnums/tires from the day it rolled out the assembly line. Like many of us I think we build our rides to our tastes and can't worry about value otherwise go buy a newer Challenger or Stang...

For a car in supposedly such great shape is this not considered over kill. Like it survived approx 47 years without it and is now not original. Supposed to be numbers matching, modified and not original. Big deal!

Original sheet metal is note worthy. The market bends beyond absolute **** purism. The car reflects concienstious work, whether nut & bolt authentic or not.

And the big difference between art and practically.
Art is ok it preserves the past and reflects what could be.
Its the problem this type of art presents in today's market thats unrealistic.

I look at small details on high priced cars, this one is unrealistically priced

Augie is 100% right. While the bodywork & paint may be nice, you can't ask that kind of money that isn't 100% perfect.

"THIS CAR RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL FLOORS, ROOF, FENDERS, HOOD, TRUNK FLOOR, TRUNK LID, DOORS, ROCKERS"

Replacement trunk floor without drilling out the body plugs or just painted over the body plugs? It's missing the wiring hold down straps on the quarter extension, broken fuel sender wire. Either the quarters have been replaced, or something has been done to them. Note the brushed on shmoo.

Definitely some replacement metal here...

s-l1600.jpg

Wrong wood grain, poorly "restored" gauge faceplate, no A-pilar covers, inner door shell should be painted black. Didn't take the time to vacuum the rugs.

s-l1600.jpg

Wrong bumper jack & no spare tire...

s-l1600.jpg

No rear bumper guards. Flowmasters....be sure to bring your earplugs.

s-l1600.jpg

No front bumper guards.

"THESE JAMBS ARE SWEEEEEET!!! Take a look closely at pics of all other cars out there and see how nicely detailed they are, then check ours."

Missing door body plugs, painted door strikers, should be painted black on the inside of the gasket.

s-l1600.jpg

Missing shoulder belts.

s-l1600.jpg

Missing fender tag, washer bottle, a/c condenser & all other a/c equipment, wrong air cleaner, no heater hoses, master cylinder, power brake booster, wiring. plug wire routing. Better pictures would show much more that is wrong under there.

What's with the funky relays?

s-l1600.jpg

Vinyl roof moldings, but no vinyl roof. What's that emblem on the trunklid?

"It is way over the top but I was restoring this car for myself and my labor is free. I am a 30 year veteran restoration specialist."

Without seeing it in person, I'm not going to question the body and paint work, but if he did this all himself, there is absolutely no way that he has 100 grand into this car. This guy has an inflated ego and an over-inflated sense of what this car is worth.

If it was my car & it had bumperettes on it it would the first of things i'd take off.....i don't care about purism. People are different & that's why the market will accept other than purist authenticism.
What about TIME in Labor, that's not quotable as Money out? That job has easily 2000 hours in it i'd bet.

To quote the seller....

"OVER $100,000 SPENT IN PARTS AND LABOR"

"I was restoring this car for myself and my labor is free."

I can appreciate the time involved and the cost of paint supplies. As we all know, the biggest single cost of restoration is in the bodywork. If his labor was free, as he says, what could he have spent so much on? I guess buying A-pilar trim would have put his budget over the top.
