I have a 67 belevedere with a 318. I'm going to be putting a 6al on it. Where is the stock ignition module? Is it that black box on the firewall dead center?

Your car should be a points setup. Electronic ignition started in 1973. Has yours been retro fitted with electronic ignition by a PO? The black box you're referring to may be the voltage regulator. Have a picture of it?

Sorry. Yes converted by previous owner. Unfortunately I do not have a pic. But it's a suspiciously new looking black box.

Does it have a triangle shaped connector with 4 or 5 pins and a screw through the center? If so, yes it's been updated. On my 67 wagon, the PO put an MSD 6 box plus the distributor in. You can mount the box wherever you want but its very beneficial for it to get some airflow across it and stay as dry as possible.

I had a '67 Belevedere LA 318, TF 727A, 3:55 rear end and the HD suspension option. I converted it to a HP 273/235 engine stuff including cam, lifters, 4 bbl single plane factory manifold, with Carter 3854S carb AND a recurved Prestolite Dual point distributor for that engine, and Champion N-11Y spark plugs.....it could dust off 383 Roadrunners....yet got 15-18 MPG......IMO.....see if you could find the Prestolite Dual point distributor and get rid of the MSD stuff.......
