I'm going to need another engine. Suggetions?

Pull the heads and have them checked out, the valve guides and seats are likely shot. I'd tell you to have the cylinders checked with a dial bore gauge, but if there is a good ridge worn into the cylinder, you probably have bores that need to be resized.
Where you go from there depends on what you plan to do with the car.
Lately, I have been looking at the Gen3 Hemi swaps because there seems to be some good deals on engine/trans combinations considering you cant get fuel injection and an overdrive for a big block for a fraction of the price.

I too am dreaming of a 3rd gen lately...with a turbo...in a beater.

Why are you jumpin the gun and thinking the motors shot.... is it smoking at idle or when you hit the gas or constantly or after you hit the gas and then get off it... You could need something simple or fairly involved like valve seals, i wouldn't jump into the motor has to come out till you know for sure its problem.

Exactly. I strongly suspect it is valves seals. I've run the car a little now. The left bank is the big culprit. It takes a minute to start smoking, so that means the oil has to get flowing. The engine runs sort of rough. Rather than spend time sorting that out by converting the points over to a MOPAR box and fooling with the Holly I rebuilt I'm going to concentrate on a new engine because I would still having to check the compression and valve seals,

Yes a stroker is a good idea. Now what machine shop in the North Georgia area can I get to do it?
I just don't have the time, space and tools.
And I'm not sure the 383 can be saved.

I more of a drop in kind of guy. I've thought about doing something like that in one of my A bodies. But then you get into the re-engineering problems. You know, like "How do I made this work, who makes the harness, why doesn't his clear the hump" and things like that.
And I'm old school on the carb. I can fix it with a screw driver. I built an A body with the intent of going 440. But chickened out because of the fitment issues and settled on a small black. Still goes fast and isn't nose heavy.

Well, I was on E-Bay and made an offer ($4K) on a 6.1L Hemi with 5-speed auto, and it was accepted! Now to work out the electronics of getting everything to work??

I haven't bought much on ebay, but I have sold plenty.
I wonder how many guys have the.."Oh ****!" moment when they were just playing around and wound up being the high bidder!
