You make a good point. A lot of it is in the combo and the execution. To me wheels to a car guy are like shoes to a woman....how well they go with the outfit matters a lot.
What looks good on one car might not look so good on another.
I rolled with black steelies for awhile until I put the torq-thrusts on, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'd like them on everything.
My car's white with a black hood so black wheels looked good to me. I don't care for them as much on say a red or yellow car, but for the OPs silver/black combo I'd do those over the Ralleys without even thinking about it.
My rules for wheels/tires are they MUST be inside the fenderwells (and have some decent width) and the tops of the tires MUST NOT be visible. After that, it's all style preference...
I was thinking about a pair of those available locally but the size wasn’t right.a lil' racier

I'm a fan of the Halibrand style wheels. I bought a used set for my 66. Period correct.good old polished Fentons/slots
I think Holley Corp/Halibrand sells a version now
they are doing a version of the Halibrands too
(I have an older version when Edlelbrock was making them)
my outright favorite vintage wheel

THese too. THey look like the wheel covers. Real sharp on the right car. Especially 15x8"s with some offset.
Gasser wheel all the way!
Choice of the Mopar guy with deep pockets back in the day. The Demonstrator, August 1971.the original Motor Wheel Corp not by Chrysler or Ford
the Road Wheels all chrome with black accents
no trim rings on a 68 or before, in a 15"
69 & later had the trim rings, not a fan at all
Road Wheels is a good choice for people looking to stay stock-ish look
& not painted rim with wheel covers of Hub caps Poverty Caps
or just chrome lugs,
to each their own
poor boy wheels & tires
