I'm really bored, fire/smoke is keeping me couped up....

Take care and stay safe Bud. This too shall pass. Got a little rain up here last night, will try to send some your way.

Thanks we can use some rain, that's part of the problem too, the last few winters & springs, here in the foothills & Sierra's, we had some really wet conditions, lots of rain & allot of snow too, hence allot of grasses & underbrush growth because of it, the deer are really fat thou... the state is freaken' broke, can't do what needs to be done & we have to pay an addition tax now in rural areas to fund fire dept.s' & equipment {a tax that I don't really mind "too much"}, Sacramento is diverting funds, from Forestry & CalFire to urban/inner-city social needs instead & can't afford to do the clearing, where it really needs to be kept under control, especially in & around the National Parks {we have quite a few}, so these wild fires, that allot are stared by lightning strikes, don't have so much fuel to feed them, then they can control it much quicker... thanks for the well wishes

I went through the same thing during the 2007 fires in San Diego County. I couldn't go to work, my three kids couldn't go to school for a week. Couped inside with three little kids for a week, not sure if/when we would have to evacuate - luckily we didn't have to. Everything left in yard covered in soot and had to either be cleaned or tossed. I started thinking about somewhere else I might want to live. Hang in there.

Yeah I feel for you guys, I remember that big arse fire, fueled by the winds or really make things difficult.... thanks for the well wishes... hangen' in there, so far

Stay safe and out of harms way Bud.

the trouble with that is one brings in another problem for you, take care, gotta go to work

I kind of feel bad about all my whining about the smoke, when all the Smoke Jumpers & CalFire or any others that are helping to fight these fires, are all out in that stuff all the while, under extreme conditions & saving peoples property, lands, homes & our National Park treasures... they are truly Hero's In My Eyes... Many Many Thanks to all of them... I hope they all stay "safe as they can", doing such a hard, dangerous & difficult job/task...

:sSig_thankyou::sSig_goodjob::sSig_thankyou: to all involved in this operation of savng all:headbang:

Scary stuff!! Good luck.
We had one of the biggest fires ever in the UK recently- caused by a Chinese lantern landing in a huge plastic recycling bin. It spread to the whole factory complex and burned for days. Amazingly no-one died though.

Not allot of things actually truly scare me... my kids moving back in frightens the hell out of me... wrecking my RR would bug the chit out of me... going 190mph with parts a blazen' was of some serious concern, to my health & welfare, but over very quickly... spiders give me the darn hebee-jebee's, make my skin crawl, I know what a wuss...LOL... But these "out of control wild fires", getting anywhere near my home, even miles away still, scares the hell out of me, makes me a nervous nelly...

What I wouldn't give to have one of these move through California, even if it's just 1 day a month this State would be sooooooooooooo green and we wouldn't have to worry about what Budski's going through. Pray for rain my friend!

The 40 or more acres behind my place lit up a couple of years ago and the wind was blowing it my way so I know the feeling of the possibility the house going up too. It sucks. Also, I have some allergy problems and even tho I was wearing a respirator while out keeping things around the house and shop wet, the smoke still nailed me pretty good and now I'm worse off than ever. I just don't see how fire fighters can breathe smoke so much and live!

Yeah I have total respect for the firefighters & what the have to deal with.... I'm staying in the house with the house A/C running & helping to filter the air, it's really bad in the early mornings... I'm sure it shortens their life, IMHFO true hero's... if something makes the fire get closer I'm putting a sprinkler up on the roof to keep floating embers from causing fires... It's not at that point yet, I hope it doesn't come to that... this is out my back porch/deck, last summer 60 or so acres of land.... let alone the millions of acres all around the area...

I feel your pain Bud, I'm up here in Grants Pass aka "the middle of the Oregon $h!tstorm." just south of the Douglas complex, east of the big windy complex, and north of the Labrador fire. We got some rain so it hasn't been too bad lately, but for a few weeks the smoke was keeping life pretty boring. Plus the Labrador fire shut down my favorite summer river spot. :banghead:

Back to the 50's car show weekend, day after the thunderstorm that started the fires.

And the next week

LMAO @ Van Damme, can you pass my coordinates on to him too?

Mr.Speedfreak, I seem to remember seeing that on the news, but liven in these areas of such wonder & beauty, near allot of open space or the wonders of Mother nature, fishing, hunting, swimming, boating, camping, hiking, riding, golf etc., sometimes have some perils & pitfalls for sure, but I would rather live here & deal with this type stuff occasionally {hopefully not very often...LOL}, from time to time, than I would never ever again, live in the big inner-city & all the many social & or economic issues, they have there instead, been there done that, never ever again, will I do it... have fun

10-4 Bud, everyone my age around here talks about Portland like its the holy land but I'm definitely more at home here. The big cities can keep the crime, overpopulation, traffic, taxes, etc. Hey at least we don't have to worry about tornadoes. Hope the air is clearing up down your way like it is here

I totally agree with you about living in or around the big cities Bud. I live about 80 miles from downtown Seattle and I haven't gone down there in probably 10+ years. No good reason to drive down there unless somebody wanted to give me free tickets to a Seahawk game (and I mean good tickets), otherwise forget it. I hate the traffic, the noise, the smell and a good percentage of the people. The only noise up here is the train going by once in a while and the only smell is the farm, and I'm lovin' every minute of it.
Be safe Bud.

Thanks... I hear ya' about the noise "no pun intended", when I 1st moved up to the rural areas, long ago now, I had to sleep with radio on really low, or I couldn't go to sleep, the silence was deafening...LOL... not a big fan of commuting or traffic issues either

The damn city moved out to me! I grew up in this area and even tho Houston wasn't that far, it was still a ways out but now, it's like one continuous town all the way to Galveston Bay. Doesn't seem like it was that many years ago that we had dirt roads all over the place. Even the 2 lane blacktops are now 6 lanes wide with a center turn lane.

I hear about the fires you guys get "brutal", makes me feel like a whiner when I complain about the endless rain. Glad to hear your hanging in there and already have a rescue plan in place for the RR "hate to see it damaged". "Maintenance free yard" boy wouldn't that be nice (grows 2-4 inches in a week around here). We went to Yellowstone right after the big fire they had "I can't imagine living near that, it was a mess". Hang in there Bud.

I'm 100% with ya there... It's nice tonight, no visible smoke, but I still smell smoke kind of, but there's ash/soot/dust everywhere too, they are up-to 30% contained now, 10% more than yesterday it progress at-least... 200,000 acres & still growing, they're also saying the smoke will come our way again tomorrow morning, 21 area schools are all closed & even Walmart was closed because of air quality... I don't shop there, I saw it on our local news site @ www.MyMotherload.com

I can totally relate Cranky... I keep moving farther & farther away, from the population & it keeps creeping towards me... My family is originally from SF, Oakland, Berkely & Danville areas, my mother & Pops moved out to the suburbs, before I was born, in Concord Ca. 1959, it was a nice quaint little East Bay suburb town, with something like under 20,000 population, just a bunch of walnut orchards around town, with a few cattle ranches, a few main roads, really spread out, allot of room, something like 4 stop-lights, nice family friendly neighborhoods, not an apartment building in sight, not now !!, it's well over 300,000 now & gridlock, way too much crap for me.... I moved to Palmer Alaska for a while, to help out my sister, but the economy tanked up there & housing dropped like a rock, people bought houses like crazy in the Matsu Valley when they were almost free for the taken, contractor losing money right & left, building homes & apartments, for a boom the was actually a big bust, it grew way to fast for my liken's, I moved back to Concord again, so I could get more work & raise a family better... I then latter moved to Rancho Murieta, a nice quite smaller gated Golf community of 2500 pop., in eastern Sacramento County, about 20 miles from greater Sacramento, housing is almost all the way, to it now too, I moved to Eastern Sonora area, after I purchased my house & sold Pops cabin in MiWak Village, up the hill like 15 miles, "for way more than it was ever worth", then I sold my place in RM... Now here I sit, this county doesn't really grow much ever in population, actually has gone down recently... We have allot of blue hairs & vacation homes/properties up here... Cost a little more to live up here, heating, gas, food, etc., is all more, but worth every penny, for sake of my sanity... well Usually anyway...

much better for racing here in Calif. too, well when they don't try to close our tracks down anyway...
