My latest purchase for a Ford F-150 has brought a lot of satisfaction to me in the short month since. Now I have owned several Dodge trucks in my past with the most recent one being a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. That was before the Dodge name was dropped and the Ram name became the norm. But I have to say based upon the recent events with Ram trucks being what they are now, and with the law suit that ensued from that debacle of recalling thousands of them for either repair or buy back, I am glad as Hell that I own a Ford as opposed to the Ram because it is obvious to me that the QC and workmanship is really piss poor now for these new Rams. And to boot...Ford never took a dime of bail out money and they still are making the number one truck in America. Now the Rams are awesome and very attractive trucks. But when it comes to my hard earned money being spent? Well the Rams will never match up to a Ford...IMHFO. Here's some further reading to add to that...cr8crshr/Tuck

It is all Bull. I drive a 3500 Ram, and Ford doesn't make a truck that can compete with that truck,in performance, or resale. They either don't know how, or don 't care. The recall stuff is all political. Do you see a big fine for GM for the 137 people killed due to the ignition recall? of course not. Yes, my ram had the recall, it was a lousy tie rod end. Period. Done timely, with no grief. Of course there is no mention of Diesel Fords having such high exhaust temps it is recommended they stay on paved roads, due to starting forest fires. You see more 4500 rams pulling car haulers than any other brand. IMHO.

While ford bragged about not taking money from the feds in the U.S., they didn't mention all the Money going to South America from the Gov't to build Ford cars, just to Import them back into the U.S.

I`m glad you enjoy your Ford it keep`s me in a pay check ,I don't buy Ford

My Brother's friend in Phoenix works at the local Cummins dealer, and he says he knows how busy it will be that week based on how many Fords are parked waiting for the Cummins Conversion. You don't see any Dodges at the Ford Service centers waiting for Ford Diesels. Just for Information's
sake, the new Ford Diesels have a $10,000 labor charge to remove the Engines, as they have to physically remove the Cab assy from the chassis. As long as you have a Warranty,,,,,,your covered.

I bought two Ferds this year; my F150 & a full size Transit van a couple weeks ago. Having owned 4 Sprinter vans (yes, I know they are built by MB)I really wanted to get back into a Dodge van, but that rebranded FWD Fiat van is fugly as sin.

Still I wasn't able to get the Ram I wanted so the Ford became my purchase. I haven't had much support for Dodge, Chrysler, Ram since all the overseas companies and consortium's have taken them over and changing just about everything there is on their vehicles. I grew up with Fords as my Dad was quite determined about not owning any thing GM or CDP. So I have a great respect for that Marquee. The links above are somewhat "Old News" but all good valid rebuttals. I just find it ironic that anytime there is a criticism about Dodge or their other vehicles that most don't see that there are other products out there that can and do meet consumer's requirements. I didn't require a "BIG OL' TRUCK such as a 3500 or what have you as my needs are less demanding then maybe others. My point is that if you have one and like it then fine. But after the latest news about the recalls and buy outs, I wouldn't trust them with their vehicles at present. I still love MOPARS and their trucks. Just currently I am soured at their products. Oh and Snake...Any thing I can do to help keep you employed is what I'm about....cr8crshr/Tuck:headbang::headbang::headbang:

I catch hell at work when I park my Chevrolets or my GMC `s and I don't give a rats ***, buy what you guys like and I buy what I like is what I tell then, love my Quadrasteer and my Avalanche and my wife loves her GMC Yukon XL Denali and my 3500 crew cab dually Regency conversion

Rams are crap, eh? Build quality sucks, does it?
I'll have to go out to the garage and tell my '04 Ram 4x4 hemi (160k miles) and my '08 Ram SLT hemi work truck (150k miles) that they can stop the act now and fall apart on me.

You see, neither has had any issues so far.
None.
At all.
Standard maintenance, that's it.

Guess they better get to breakin'. Maybe they just didn't get the word that they're supposed to do that.

Well I have the 5.9 liter Flex Fuel engine in my F-150. I don't need a diesel at this point in my truck usage. The Cummins is a very fine diesel engine and has a great rep when it comes to diesels. The Duramax seems to be performing well too, I had a work truck with the USAF that ran the Duramax but when the US mandated that there fleet vehicles run in the Bio-Fuel diesel, we had all kinds of issues with the glow-plugs and fuel delivery. GM fixed the problem and it was a really nice Quad Cab 4 wheel drive unit. Now I have heard that Ford now is offering the Cummins in their trucks but I am not sure if that is correct. But converting to a diesel is out of the equation right now. As far as the Marquees go of our domestic trucks, no one can match the American trucks...IMHFO...that are otherwise offered from overseas makers. Toyota would never grace my driveway but the Nissan is a very well constructed truck. And I have always been partial to Datsun products since they first arrived. I guess it all boils down to what your needs are in a truck, what your wallet can afford, and will it do the tough jobs one demands of it? Still a man without a truck is like????cr8crshr/Tuck

Easy there Cowboy. I believe I was referencing the newer trucks as having the problems. I never said that Rams were crap either. I have owned a couple over the years the last being a 2001, which was a great truck until I had to sell it because of a move. If you go back and re-read my statement, I said I was glad I didn't have to or won't have to go through the hassles of either a recall, or the most troublesome step of a buy back. Even the article mentions that. Glad you have had zero issues with your 2 as that really makes the ownership much more re-assuring....cr8crshr/Tuck

Well, you're just too dang late now.
I've just got back from scolding both of them for being too damn reliable!
Oh, BTW the work truck replaced one I put close to 300k on - the tranny finally gave up on it and the company decided not to put any more money into it.
It was a good one too, just got a little funky after a while. :)
Apologies for my little take-off on your original premise.

Thanks Sonny...I forgot about that experience. Now I am not bashing the dealerships directly but I am finding as a whole that the whole organization has taken a u-turn for the worse when it comes to product reliability and its customer service. Hell...Look at the latest rumblings about the Hellcat cancellations. And RC is still waiting for his confirmation of delivery for his and its been what now since his post on "it's down there somewhere". My experience with my Ford purchase even though it was a used 2010 with less than 100k on the odometer was one of the best I have ever had buying a vehicle. Their dealership is rated way up top here in NorCal for their rep and service. So I cannot accurately say how the experience with my local Dodge dealer would have gone. They just didn't have exactly what I was looking for nor did they want to go out of their way to find one per my specs for me so it was the Ford. I expect that some things will pop up that need fixing but all in all I take care of all my vehicles and will do so with the Ford. But the whole World now-a-days as all about the "MONEY" and not about good customer relations or service. I always have to ask "How much is enough" for these places???cr8crshr/Tuck

Not to be argumentative, but there are good experiences to be had with dealers (Lord knows, I've had some bad ones over the years...).
Our 2012 Charger R/T turned out to be a wonderful experience and the first time I've ever bought a new car basically online - emails, phone calls, etc. handled the whole process.
Steve White Motors in little ol' Newton, NC turns out to be quite the online sales presence, even utilizing eBay.
They tell me they crank out over 100 online sales a month!

I was after a very specific model with very specific options, colors, etc. which turned out to be a tough one to find, as any dealer within 100 miles seemed only to either have 6-banger SXT models or full dresser SRT's - nothing in between.
To complicate matters, we had our '06 R/T to trade in, too - seemingly tough to do over long distances.

Well, I found a critter that almost exactly matched my criteria and gave that dealer an email asking about it and off we went to the races.
I told them exactly what I wanted to pay, what I had to trade (sent them a few pics of it) and what the new one had to have on it.
Wala, deal done - that dealer DELIVERED the car to us, over 3 hours away in a different state, on a Saturday no less.
They totally took me at my word on the trade-ins' condition, etc. and made it happen, once I had secured my own financing and had that waiting for them when they got here.
I took a quick test drive in the new one from my home, he took our old one out real quick, we both came back, signed papers in my garage (on my greasy old workbench) and he left with the old ride for home.

Blew my mind how easy that was. Wife always gives me grief for how much research I do before I buy anything, but even she had to admit it was amazing.
Told her the dealer had to make a leap of faith and so did we, even though with a brand new one, we didn't have much to risk, really.

Moral: There are still a few honest dealers out there - some of them even sell Dodges. :)
