Imports at the Track Rant

The time I see them the most at Cecil is on the Friday nite T & T and its one reason my brother and I will not go on Friday nights. On the Satuday T & T's its not to bad as I see imports but not a ton of them so far. Atleast we dont have to worry about then in the Nostalgic Superstock classes.
Chris that stinks that someone racing stole from you as thats one thing was usually always cool that you could trust no racers were going to steal any of your stuff as thats what I always liked about drag racers and we dont need theives stealing from us while racing. Ron

I wonder if my Dad's generation thought the same about us? But I will say even if we were a little off the wall we did respect other people stuff!

Sounds like you have legitimate grievance's and its to bad track and local officials are not doing something about it. And to think our local track got shut down because some one move in and did not like the noise.

This happened at fontana speedy in California, some regard complained that 2miles away lost his hearing due to the drag races running open headers but yet have no complaint about the Indy car and NASCAR running. They had to put up a sound wall which should have been done a long time ago along with lights that they had the money for from NHRA but the bad management that was they spent it on NASCAR. Luckily they were fired and new management came in, have heard its better haven't been able to race there since the reopen.

******UPDATE****** As I was talking to my wife this afternoon She said, I have mail for you but the letter has no return address on it Do you still want it?
I said sure, As I opened the white envelope, low and behold my NHRA Comp license is in the envelope. This is freaking weird. 4 weeks later and nobody had my address to return it.

I can't tell you nuthin', can I?

Why I don't race Friday nights at WildHorse in Phoenix. The big issue is safety. The track trys to control it by having a "slick only " lane and announcing that stock tired cars must drive around the water box. Also try to limit the # of people in staging and by the starting line. Unfortunately, they can't control it. I went once to do some T&Ting. Almost "bought the farm" due to water up and down the track. Won't do that again. spdwrldburnout.jpg

For every 1 muscle car enthused kid born, 5 pot smokin', rice runnin', license stealing nut job is born.

Times have really changed. I'm one of two kids at my school/island/county that owns and built their muscle car. Everyone else is a wanna be importer or daddy's money diesel.

The one other kid, my buddy, owns a Chevelle, so I don't get much competition. :evil6:

Funny, my son is 11 and only knows real american iron. My 69 RR will be his someday. He is already planning on racing it lol. Fart can imports are like ******** everyone has one and they all stink lol and they wonder why we don't acknowledge them at shows.

For a lot of them, what else is there? The imports are affordable and is what a lot of today's kids are into. I don't have a problem with that but my main problem is they have no respect for anyone especially us older guys. If I did crap like that to someone that was just a few years older than me, I would have gotten my *** kicked. That was a different time tho. Seems like back then, if you got your *** kicked by someone older, the cops looked at it as if you deserved it. Now they look at us as the perp if we kick some young punks *** that deserves it. I'm kinda sick of it. Cops didn't respect us as teens and still don't respect us as older and more mature adults that's doing the right thing.....

I can agree there are some trouble maker type out there but there is also some very good and kind youngsters out there. One night I was with my son in a Valiant he bough as a driver and he ran it out of gas about 1 mile from home. But we no sooner got out of the car when two 1969 GTO's stopped. A very young guy got out of each car and they offered to help. One of them ran my son down to the gas station and he got us gas in a 5 gallon can as the other stayed with me at the car and we talked about muscle cars. Then when we got it running they would not take any money from me for their help. They were great youngsters who took their time to help us out and they reassured my faith in many of the younger generation. Ron
