Just bought this Hemi block with a few other parts but the casting date does not make sense.
It looks like my '66 production block but the head bolts and bearing cap side bolt holes look to be 1/2". Is there any value in a block like this? Thanks for looking and for any info you can share!

I have no info to offer, but that’s pretty cool. Even though there’s no 72/73 Hemi cars to drop it in, it still could be the basis of a nice build. What’s your plan for it?

If it checks out at the machine shop I will build it. Just bought a '68 XS29J8B car that it will go in. Actually can't decide if it would be better to yank my '66 motor out of my '69 and put that in the '68 or use this '72 block in the '68??? Does it matter seeing that neither of them is the original engine?

Cool, you have a very enjoyable dilemma to figure out.

There were kits to convert to larger main and head bolts/studs. Fuelers used them, high horsepower engines. They cast hemi into the 70's. Tried to order a block in 1978, none available.

Check the 1975 Direct-Connection catalog. Page 9. The fuel block also had heavier webs, if I recall correctly.

Which car will it be easiest to install in? Things like power stearing and brakes may get in the way.

Great info in the article! And, I will definitely be taking a look in the '75 D.C. catalog (a friend has one). Sounds like this block will hold up to more than I'll be throwing at it and is a better block than the '66 casting. Seeing that the '68 Charger is a 4 spd /Dana 60 car, this block is the better choice of the two for that car. Off to the machine shop after the holidays ---- fingers crossed. Thank you to everyone for sharing your wisdom and Merry Christmas!

You buy the QQ1 68 Charger R/T 4 speed from GL/BK?

Yes, do you know the car - have any history on her? Pretty solid car for as long as it was sitting out.
